Hi, is there a 'remote keyless (fob)' programmed for this vehicle? That's the only way to DE-arm the immobilizer (anti-theft) feature (based on US specs). Unless you have this key fob (keyless entry remote... which must also be programmed for this vehicle), the only other way is wait 5 minutes with the existing key in the ignition, then it should start (US specs). You will still need to have an 'ACTIVE' keyless remote programmed for this vehicle... otherwise, you'll continue to run into this problem.

Access to the starter is from under the vehicle.... probaly on the back towards firewall and must be over exhaust (looking up from under it) and attached to transmission. REMEMBER: disconnect battery negative post cable 1st! If you want to be certain it is starter first either while it's still connected to battery, go under and check if you have constant 12v on main terminal and switch terminal should have 12v ONLY when key is "cranking"... hold key long enough to test for current. If all is as should be, continue to remove starter after disconnecting battery. Bench check both old (to be sure its bad) and new (so you don't install a defective one).

This works on any visor. Obtain a small clamp as used in wiring harnesses. On the shaft end of the visor, 1/2 inch from the end, install the clamp around the visor and the shaft. Drill a hole through the visor for the clamp screw and tighten as needed. I might be a redneck, but it works!!

A less common cause is a worn starter that draws so many amps while cranking the engine that there's not enough juice left to adequately power the ignition system and fuel injectors. Contributing factors might be a weak battery and/or loose or corroded battery cables. No fuel because of a dead fuel pump, bad fuel pump relay, blown fuel pump fuse, plugged fuel filter or line, or failed PCM injector driver circuit or injector power supply relay. Or, the fuel tank might be empty (don't believe what the gauge is telling you), or the fuel tank might contain contaminated fuel (water or too much alcohol) or the wrong type of fuel (whoops, somebody put in diesel instead of gasoline). No compression because the timing belt or chain is broken, the timing belt or chain is loose and jumped out of time, or the overhead camshaft has snapped.

your problem is with your throttle position sensor or TPS, you need to replace it because the spring is malfunctioning.

Did you check the ignition coil fuse in the under hood fuse box ?

It is likely the horn button on your steering wheel is broken inside or the wire is shorting to the steering column. You would have to remove the airbag to fix this problem. If your horn button is on the airbag, you may have to replace the airbag.

My rule of thumb for Timing belts:
replace at 60,000 miles, and every 40,000 miles thereafter. Having said that, I often let
cars go until the timing belt starts showing signs of wear (usually every 50K - 75K miles)

But www.autozone.com (register free at www.autozone.com) is recommending for your
car driving in "severe driving conditions" (aka normal stop-start driving) that your 2000 Sonata
have:
60,000 miles - replace
90,000 miles - inspect for wear
120,000 miles - replace
150,000 miles - inspect for wear

The 155 page owners manual (I found one at the link below - you may prefer to try Hyundai)
makes no mention of the timing belt at all.

you can look at them and compare them to see if they are the same size and thickness. if not get new ones.

IT would appear that your clutch is worn out.

Take to Midas,freon will need to be removed and replaced.

On the back of the headlight where the wires enter, you should be able to twist and remove the lamp holder. Be careful with the new bulb if it is halogen, do not touch the bulb!!

check for leaks in the hoses other wise you need a new washer motor

Have a load test preformed on the battery.
