Car will not start or even turn over

If it has the "locksmart" PAT(passive Anti Theft) option, there is a chip in the black plastic "head" of the key, that is mated to a reciever in the steering colum, a magnet would most likely mess the system up. It kills the fuel, hence the no start. If you have another key,try that,if not ,take the key off the ring and try it. Odd thing about the dash lights, but the key switch "talks" to the computers so maybe. My best thoughts on your problem. let me know.

My battery is dead and

Try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes. then when you reconnect the battery lock and unlock the drivers door with the key, door closed. this will on some models deactivate the anti theft system. but it must be done with the hood closed and all the doors closed and from outside with the key. mike

Replace struts

To remove the struts on a Mystique, Loosen the lug nuts on both front tires. With a hydraulic jack, raise the vehicle on one side, then place a jack stand under the vehicle and adjust it to the proper height for the vehicle to rest on. Dead battery on a 2005 Lincoln towncar

You should be able to jump start it. Before connecting cables make sure the ignition is off on both vehicles also do not let the black and red jumper cable clamps touch . When connecting cables connect the red cable to the good batterys positive terminal first. Next connect the other end of the red cable to the positive post of the dead battery. Third connect the black cable to the good batteries negative terminal. Last connect the other end of the black cable to a good ground on the dead car, this can be a nut or bolt or part of the frame. Start the engine of the good car, rev the engine slightly then try to start the good car. Remove the cables in reverse order from installing them.
