Bought used 2006 Lincoln Navigator

hi ,i do know that they are certainly seperate faults ,the cd player is buggered ,i'm a car stereo expert and if a cd player does this its not normally worth repairing ,replacement should be a much cheaper option. your other issue sounds very much like a classic starter solenoid problem ,they are very irregular when they play up ,it will gradually get worse ,you should be able to contact a lincoln speacialist junkyard and tell them your vehicles details such as ,engine and chassis numbers and they should be able to find a replacement starter motor with a warranty on it ,have it fitted and you will be fine from there. THANK YOU for using FixYa

Buying a used 2006 navigator.

Yes and you may not buy the car if you know. But all of the Manufacturers probably operate the same scam. Even if you are the original owner, it costs you between $250 and $350 to get a reprogramming disk to upgrade the system. You simply use the cd and insert the Navigation disk, that disk stays in the cd when you have a multiple cd unit.

We leased a new Lincoln for 3 years and after 2 years a letter came out trying to sell us the upgrade. We did not upgrade, and felt we should have a current map for the remaining year of our lease as we felt we paid for the ability of the Navigation system to do its job the full 3 years. They did not give us an upgrade.

So at 2 year intervals, the Manufacturers will sock you with a $350 bill to keep your Navigation current. Or just use the old maps.

I believe my brake switch is bad. my brake lights

The fact that they come on at all means your brake switch should be fine.Have you checked the power brake fluid or even had your brakes checked in a while?Another possibilty could be that where the switch is connected, perhaps the bolt or whatever holds it down is loose/broken.The switch should be located on the back side of your brake pedal,a little high up near the linkage which activates them.If you have any questions or need more help, just comment here and I will get an autolink to your post and reply ASAP.I really encourage responses so I can follow up properly as I know where you stand and asking someone else restarts all the explaining because we cannot see other 'Expert's' responses.Good luck,Greg

2006 Navigator air suspension works

I suggest you remove most of that Air System and
replace with conventional shocks/struts etc

You will spend a few thousand, before you take my advice,
if you continue to try and diagnose those issues.

It is a system not worth working on

Read other peoples problems and a few I offered that
idea to, and they were happy to switch over, at any cost,
so they could use their veh again

Need to know the location

The air bag suspension switch is located in the front passenger kick pannel. Use a light and get down where the front passengers feet go you will see a little red switch farther forward on the right hand side against the outside pannel.

The air suspension does not come on when it is

Those airbag systems have about a 5 year life span, and the cost to fix them will eventually exceed the value of the car. One part after another will fail, get a coleman air mattress, use it everyday and see how long it really lasts, same principle at play. About 1 in every 25 questions on this board involve failed luxury car airbag suspension systems. The only real fix is to junk the air system and get a spring and shock system, many are out there as they continues to make these and folks keep buying them...............once. www.strutmasters.com is one in Canada that makes a kit. Once your warranty expires, give it a look and get a labor estimate.

#7 cyl mis-fire changed #6 coil with #7 coil

it will do no harm at all to use redexe/wynns injector cleaner at the rate of 1 can to 5 gallons of gas.you may get an improvement.also try an engine oil additive for "flushing"before a full oil change.
(as i live in England i dont know the makers names for your additives) if you do an oil change use 5/30 full synthetic to renew so that it goes around the oilways quicker than a "thick" oil.as a "by the way"i have NEVER changed the head for "STICKY " valve as i dont believe there is such a thing.....unless the valve has been replaced with a wrong size stem...........

My 06 navigator bgan to sputter and loose power,

This is caused by a misfire, if you have the compuetr scanned there will be codes that will point you to the problem, there are many auto part stores that will scan it at no charge, this are famous for bad coils, you may have a bad coil or two, this truck has a coil for each cylinder, when they scan it it will say for example code # is po301 cylinder 1 misfire detected. then you would know that # 1 is the misfiring cylinder, and the most common problem would be the # 1 coil, hope this helps.

My 2006 lincoln navigator is stuck in the 'park'

So is mine! I know this isn't a real solution, but I realized if I force it, I can get it into Drive. It goes from Drive to Reverse and Park easily, the problem is getting it out of Park. I didn't drive it for weeks because of this, then I had to drive the Navigator to get my 200+ pound dog to the vet and tried again. I was mad and pulled hard and it went right into drive.

I have an 06 navigator and the trans makes noise?

Lots of things make noise but the front sprag has a bullitin on it and it's covered under the 7=70 powertrain warrentee. The whole trans really needs replaced as the medel goes though everthing and the rebuilt units are reworked with the updated sprag and the old unit won't take the new sprag ( IT'S BIGGER). Sorry but this is an expensive repair the dealers are doing alot of them.

My 06 Navigator calls for premium 91 octane

You are not hurting your truck at all... the engine computer adjusts to the lower octane... you may notice a slightly higher fuel consumption with the lower octane fuel but the money you save on lower octane fuel offsets the mileage.
