Replace the transmission and sell it...These vues 2003 and 2004 with the varitrack trannies were junk you may be eligible for a class action lawsuit if you live in a state where they have filled it.

A salvage yard would be a likely source of interchangeability information.

I would take it in and have them do a diagnostic on it, sounds like the cam shaft sensor to me.

Engine fan work on high speed in 2 cases , when engine is overheated or when AC is running. If your engine temperature is ok than U have to check the AC system . in most cases the relay that command the fan is the problem.I do not now exactly what kind of fan is on your car but are models that have electronic variable speed fans and the electronic module is located inside the fan.Other models has a separate module that contains the relay and its easy to find the module box only pursuing the cables that leave from the fan

You have to put the car on a lift and shake it down to find loose nuts, worn bushings, etc.

If you have a code reader, I would check the code to see what is happening.

Check for chafed or ***** places in the wiring where it enters the doors near the hinges . Flexing for so many years and the elements detiorate the insulation and it breaks off causing shorts .
