Jaguar x type...started the car

if there is also black smoke coming out the exhaust - and the problem is intermittent - then it's the EGR valve - it sticks open - will need replacing.... Happened to mine this morning and this is what the Jaguar Assistance guy said. Mine is a 2006 2 litre X-type.

Black smoke when accelleration

Black smoke is unburned fuel in mist form. Likely time for a tune up, including a new fuel filter.

After bleeding the brakes, the brakes have locked

Front or rear? Rear disc brakes too?

This could be master cylinder not fully releasing. Is pedal fully coming back to the stop? It needs to so it uncovers the ports to let the pressure release.
Also, try loosening the bleeder screws just a little to see if the calipers release.

Disc brake pads barely release by design, maybe just a few thousandths of an inchgap.

Reverse sensors

I find the sensors only activate when you are very close to an object behind you. At about 5 inches they beep constantly. Further then five inches they beep slower and slower until they stop at about 8 inches from something behind you. If you are very close to an object lest then 2 inches they will beep constantly. Also when you start your car and put it in reverse and you hear a beep the reverse sensors are not working. The best way to test them is to turn the key to the start position but do not start it. place the lever in R get out or have someone walk in back of the car, you should hear the sensor go off. Also, there might be a situation when one or two are not working. Follow the procedure above for test but have a stethoscope mechanic type, which most auto parts stores carry. and listen to each one individually. If one is not working it will have to be replaced. The control module for this system is in the trunk next to the spare tire. Some of these cars had a leaking trunk problem in 02 if the module is wet, get a new one. If it hasn't failed it will when they get wet. Finally the sensors should be heard inside and outside the car.

How can i get a

If pushing the button will not open the trunk (boot), you will need to remove the rear seats to access the trunk compartment. Pull the bottom seat off by simply prying it. The fold down back rests are locked from the trunk on top so you will have to unscrew the retaining bolts from the bottom of the back rest to flip the seats up. Once inside, you will find a yellow pull handle that manually opens the trunk where the striker is. Pull it and try to have the replacement peice ready so you don't have to go thru that again.

Can I tow a 2005 jaguar vdp on car dolly?

it is a common misconception that you cannot tow an automatic car,you can, if you take precautions..car in nuetral, top speed 35mph,max distance 25 miles.this assumes that the gearbox itself is NOT damaged. Some people will tell you to drop the propshaft, some makers demand you do this, BUT thats because, like everything else in this world, one must take into account the IDIOTS out there.if the rear wheels rotate, tow the car.....(i expect a lot of techies to argue but in 40+years ive had NO trouble).

No power to engine no tick over

suggest you try to boost the car off by another car. you may have to have the cables hooked to your car for about 15minutes to let your battery build up enough to start yours though.or if you have a battery charger, hook it to it and let it charge for 15minutes. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

2005 jaguar x-type. Need step by step on how to

Its easy but access is a little difficult. I moved the hose a little out of the way to get a few extra mm by opening the battery cover and fuse box. Then on the light, just flip the 2 clips on either side of the black plastic cover to open. You will then see a centre electrical connector and a separate smaller one. The centre one goes on the bulb - just pull it off. Then there is a spring clip holding the bulb in - release both sides and take out the bulb. Put in a new bulb making sure never to touch the glass part. Reverse all the above and the job should be done.

Heater nor ac blower not

The problem is going to be the fan relay. It is located under the dash on the passenger side. Sometimes you can give the dash a bump next to the glove box and the fan will come on. Even though it comes on, all that does is proves that it is the relay. The relay will malfunction again. And will need to be replaced.

Heater blows cold air even

your thermostat will have no bearing on your heater blowing cold air. My s type is kind of funny with its heating/cooling at times too as are several other models I've observed. Since your blower motor is working and blowing out air (cold or not) you may need to have your heater core replaced (part is around 140 excl labor if you have it installed) might be able to get you a diagram of my jtis software if you're a do it yourselfer. It takes a skilled mechanic several hours to remove the dash to r/r core. Very tedious and if you're not familiar with it I'd recommend having a free weekend to do so. I would pay to have mine replaced to give you a straight answer in this matter.
