Remove the door inner trim and check that the water proof plastic is sealed around all the openings in the metal. Check the drain holes under the door outside the rubber seal. Check and adjust the door to touch the seal all the way around.

You must perform the diagnostics for the code and then select which comp[onent is defective, the part itself, the wiring to it or the control module.

I had the same problem (X-type 2.0d 2004). The stutter was cured on mine by getting the ECU fashed with the latest firmware. This is a known problem and the update does cure it (£28), I didn't bother with all the tests the garage wanted to.
The noisey engine at idle is the alternator belt. It resonates at idle and causes the noise, There is a modified bottom pulley, tensioner and belt kit, but it is rather expensive ~£200 plus fitting (around 4 hours labour). Mondeo's have the same problem but that kit doesn't fit the Jag.

not familiar with jaguar but most cars it is accessible under the back seat

the wiring is standard practice, its there on most xtypes. but the phone module is not fitted to all models. you can have a module fitted but because it is on d2b[fibre optic databus and the can network. your cars system would have be reprogrammed by suitable equipment to make it work.

burning bulbs can be the earth wire to the bulb. can also be baddle made bulbs... is it just your head lights no other electrical problems...

what you need is carb cleaner or throttle body cleaner then unbolt it from your engine, unplug everything hooked up.to it then place a shop towel over the opening left on your engine for nothing falls in then take your EGR valve and place it on newspapers, or towels and spray the heck out of it, let it sit after spraying it, and repeat after you got it cleaned up, let it air out for a bit, and bolt and hook it back up, this is just a temporary fix it sounds like you are running rich if you have a scan tool, check your fuel trims they just might be off a little bit, if it took.about 4 years to.start smoking again, but if you are going to be keeping it for some time, then I would check the fuel trims or have them checked.and fix, it.could be.something as easy as a vacuum leak

go to the local library and get a chilton book onyour make and model tell the librarian what you are trying to accomplish , they will be more than happy to assist you

black smoke is excess fuel ,clean air filter ,if air filter is ok then dealer only

You'd really need to get it scanned.Could be anything from a loose gas cap to a miss-fire.

what is code 23?

run the fault codes to see which sensors are failing and repair from there.

check the idler pullys or serpentine belt tentioner, If squirts of crc on these spinning things changes the sounds you hear you have located the problem

It seems like you have a hole in the intake pipe or a loose connection to the air supply
