No you can not retrieve the keyless entry code with the vin number. However you may be able to retrieve the actual key code and have a blank cut. The only problem is your vehicle is a 98 model and that is the cut off on how far back ford goes so yours may or may not be avaliable. You can have your local dealer retrieve this but they would have to have a picture ID and proof of ownership.
The only other option is to have someone use a jocklock to get it open, it is pretty easy to do on this vehicle.

You can try coming up from the bottom of the car. You might have to move a piece of rubber flap in between the bumper and radiator. Use a long screwdriver or jackhandle to pry the fixture. Be careful not to dent the hood.

Sometimes birds will try to build nests under the hood and get sticks into the lock mechanism.

My Air conditioner only works on high

The air conditioner only works when the fan is on high (4) how do i get it to work on the three other lowest settings?

The switch that runs the blower motor for air and heat sends the DC voltage through some big resisters when it isn't set on high. (On high it sends all the power to the motor.)
If the lowest speed doesn't work then one of the resisters has gone bad, or come disconnected. If more than 1 speed doesn't work then a differant resister has gone bad or disconnected. The power runs through each resister in series so the most common one to go bad is the second to highest speed. when this resister is bad thaen it will only work on the highest setting. Replacing the switch won't fix it. You will have to find the resister that is bad and replace it.
The resister bank is usually tucked up behind the dash where only a kid can focus his eyes, and contort himself enough to see it.
Once the resister is replaced it should run perfectly.
Presto.

None of my power windows on 1998 Mercury

None of my power windows on 1998 Mercury Mountaineer work, checked fuses but can't find power relay if there is one. Any suggestions

If you checked the fuses and they are fine, try this. With the key on and the window button down or up, open and close the door holding in the up or down position. If the window moves, there is a wire(s) are broken in the wire harness that goes from the door jam to the door. This is a common problem that we find with window and door operating problems. You may find 1 bad or broken wire, or 4-5 broken wires. Let us know if this help you find a repair, for this concern. Craig

If you have not got it by now there is a "CaveMan Method" to this problem. Have someone pull the release for you at the same time pound on the hood above the latch. If that does not work remove the release from under the dash. Take a pair of Vise grips and pull the cable and pound (with your hand).this should get it open.

your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.
