What would cause my brakes to pulsate when coming to a slow stop?
Hi Sheri, happy that you managed to sort out the problem. The operation of the ABS pulsates as you have described. It sends a small electrical charge to the management system, telling the system when the brake is about to lock and momentarily releases that particular brake for that wheel. If the wheels lock when braking and the vehicle skids, control is lost. With ABS the skidding is eliminated and thereby making the vehicle safer. Regards John
Traction control light stays on along with engine light when car is running.
This has been happening to my car as well. It typically happens when your oxygen sensors start to wear out. Mine does it once in a while and I have the local auto store reset it. Go to your nearest auto store and have them tell you what code it is and ask them to reset the OBD so the light goes out. If the light comes on right away and the code has to do with your oxygen sensors, have them replaced. There are three, two are easy to replace, one takes some effort as it is in a tough to get to spot. The dealer will charge you a fortune to replace them so do it yourself or through a local mechanic. It is a very simple task other then the access.
If you disconnect the battery to reset the engine light, make sure you have the code to reset the anti theft on the radio, otherwise your radio will not work
1999 lexus Trouble Codes
Well, it would seem that replacing the sensor twice would point to the ECM but not always.Code 125 means the engine is not reaching operating temp which is needed to put the system into closed loop. Closed loop means the ECM is looking at all of the sensor readings to determine fuel trim level instead of using pre-set values. On cars built in the late 1990s closed loop is supposed to happen within a few minutes of start-up to cut down on emissions. The code means the temp reading is below 195 degrees for too long, which is usually a faulty thermostat. Once in a while it is a faulty temp sensor. As for the other 3 codes, there could be a problem with the wiring between the O2 sensor and the computer. And that might be expensive to find. So the dealer may be hedging their bet with the ECM replacement idea. But that would not address the first code unless you have had the thermostat replaced and the cooling system is ok.
