What type of power steering fluid can be used for
Power steering fluid is fairly generic. Buy a good quality brand. If the system is low, it has to be leaking somewhere. In that case use a good conditioner such as the one made by Lucas. It is the only brand name product I've ever used that has worked on a consistent basis. And, will not harm internal components.(sound like a salesman? I'm not!) No chemical will repair broken or severely worn parts, but seals can dry out and leak. Never use transmission oil in power steering. That used to be OK but is not now.
How do I change the right license plate bulb.
this ones kind of tough for an amateur. You need to pop off most of the little black retainers holding the trunk lid liner on. then theres the emergency handle that you use to get out if your locked in the trunk. you need to pull on the far end of the handle and the outer cover will come off. you may need a small screwdriver to remove it. then pull straight down, really hard and the handle will come off. then remove the rest of the liner. the bulbs are 194a bulbs. available pretty much anywhere. reinstall in the reverse order.

There are 2 PDF documents to open from that page (above the picture).
The first (Routing guide) gives you the belt routing diagram code for
your car (diagram 6-10).
The 1995 lexus ES 300, GS 300 and Sc300 all
have the same engine and belt configuration so refer to the 1995 GS300.
The second PDF (Illustration) shows the belt diagram for code 6-10.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
Replace turn signal bulb
If you look straight up inside the bumper you will see the plug that
holds the
bulb
just twist and it will come out.
-
Open the hood and remove the plastic clips that hold the front
plastic splash guard in place. This is done by pushing on the center of
the plastic buttons to depress them slightly. The button (clip) can
then be removed. For the buttons (clips) with the philips head center,
lift the philips head center until you hear a click and then remove the
whole clip.
-
Remove the plastic splash guard.
-
Remove the three 10mm bolts that hold the lens assembly to the
fender.
-
On the fender side of the lamp assembly there is a plastic clip that
is inserted in a small flange which is part of the fender. Use a flat
screwdriver to put pressure on the back of the post that protrudes thru
this clip. This post, that is part of the lamp assembly, helps to hold
the assemble in the correct position. Once that post is free of the
clip the lens assembly can easily be removed.
- Un-clip the wires to the main headlights and the the parking/turn signal
lamp and remove the lens assembly from the vehicle.
-
In the case of a fast blinking turn signal, remove the turn signal bulb,
test to be sure it is good, and clean the contacts of the blub, bulb
holder, and the printed circuit strip on the lamp assembly.
-
Reassemble everything and test.
-
Replace
the lamp assemble in the fender and secure the splash guard with the
clips.
-
This should be about a 1/2 hour job.
Need to replace thermostat but not sure where it
Follow the lower hose up to the water pump where there is a housing for the thermostat. To remove this you will first, want to take the front right tire off then the dust guard for it; the thermostat housing should now be viseable. Then you will want to take the plastic windshield washer, and engine coolant reserviors off to make the job easier. Next take the bottom rad. hose off the water pump(where it goes to, from the radiator). then struggle for awhile with taking the three nuts that hold the thermostat housing together (a wobbler bit on a socket wrench can make this job easier). Once these are off you can unplug electric plug on top of the housing, pull that part of the housing off and there the thermostat sits in all of its evasive gloriousness waitng for you .
How do I check to see if it's really my water pump
Hi, your best bet will be to get a leak detection kit which basically includes some dye and a black light. You add the dye to the coolant, run the car for a bit, and then use the black light to determine where the leak is coming from, it will show up in a fluorescent color. Good luck!
My car is making a clicking sound when I turn to
Clicking souns is usually the result of the u-joint boot being busted and then sand and such get into the u-joint and destroy it, menaing you have to replace the entire assembly. It's best to fix the boot before the damage is done, and it costs less to.
If you have both sides doing it, it will be a few $$$$.
Where do you check the level of your brake fluid?
Open the hood - It will be mounted to the power brake booster - a large round thing mounted to the firewall on the driver's side. There will be a removeable cap that should have some information on it. If it says use D.O.T. 3 brake fluid that is what you ask for. You may want to have your brakes inspected at one of the shops that offers the service free. The reason brake fluid normally goes down is because of brake pad wear but a leak in the system could cause it.
