I have no brake lights.
No, but did you check the brake switch above the pedal? If not, try pulling the connector off the switch and shorting the connector terminals together using a paper clip. If this turns the brakes on, your switch is either not adjusted right or needs to be replaced.

you have a fuel pump relay . Check to see if the fuel pump is humming when you turn key. check for proper ground for fuel pump. try spraying some carb cleaner into the intake then attempt a start. The engine will run for a few seconds, this will verify spark. corosion at the electrical connections is always a possibility. and lastly can you get the engine running by opening the throttle when starting?

i have an 89' cherokee. i had the same problem. first my headlamps didnt work, so i replaced the (pull) headlamp switch on the dash. well, then my dash lamps and break lamps didnt work. i returned the headlamp switch and found out that it was defective. try to get a new headlamp switch and make sure that all the male ends are straight up and down. the defective one i got had one bent male end on the opposite end of where the pull knob goes! watch out for that! i hope this helps.

1990 jeep cherokee limited transfer case problems
Yes, hook up the front end. Failure to do so will burn out the diff in the trans case...sounds like you already may have done so. The system is meant to have LITTLE difference between front end and rear end...not 100%, liky your described situation...
You will know it is dead, aside from disassembly and inspection, by any slip stick or binding and release more harshley than before.
