Radiator may be plugged up inside or a bad headgasket. Try the radiator first since it is far easier.

Jeep will NOT start cold
Get the injectors checked and the sensors checked. The crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor checked. Also check the temperature checked.
If the sensor is reading the wrong values then it will lean out the fuel system by shutting injectors off and this will cause the problem. But when you prime the system the injectors remain on and injectors pulse starts and this starts the engine.-
Get three sensors, the crank shaft, cam shaft and temperature sensor checked and injectors checked. If injectors are cracked blocked or not getting required power, it will cause the problem.

Lost ignition key
OK, NOW WHAT?? If you don't have one you are going to have to replace the lock cylinder for the ignition and if that is the same key as the doors and hatch you will have to replace them also and have the cylinders all key matched to the same key..

How can I recover the power (performance/horse power) of 1990 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED?
First thing to do is have a compression test of the engine, to determine its internal condition and worthiness. Go from there. Low compression in any cylinders from worn rings or poorly sealing valves translates into poor performance and horsepower. What you want is good compression (about 140 psi minimum) across all cylinders, and near evenly balanced-all with nearly even figures. As a rule of thumb, all cylinders should be within 75% of the highest reading cylinder

Engine won't idel
Could be a faulty idle air control valve, or a dirty throttle body. The computer controls idle speed by regulating the amount of air entering the intake thru the valve.

Relacing a fuel tank sending unit
Hi Thom, I would suggest getting a replacement with the correct fitting. A good place to find something for a reasonable price is a salvage yard. Fitting a generic component is risky, especially so with a fuel tank. It would not be good to be leaking fuel everywhere. Let your imagination take you to a place where there are carefree smokers around. Regards John

No current to injectors 90 jeep cherokee
If the check engine light does NOT come on when cranking, at the times
when it won't start, and the relays are clicking and buzzing, then your ECU is in need of repair. The engine will
only start after the check engine light comes on and the ecu is what
controls that. ECU is likely going bad, causing the delayed start problem
typical of early 90's jeeps. Reasonably priced repair or replacement services for your
jeep ECU are available on ebay.
