1990 Honda CRX - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Car wont stART.TURNSOVER BUT WONT start
Pull a spark plug after trying to start it, and sniff the plug. If it smells like gas, you are getting fuel. Then check for spark. First leave the gas to dry off the plug. Then with heavy gloves on, or holding the metal body of the plug to the engine block with it plugged into the plug wire, have someone crank it while you look for a bright bluish spark between the electrodes on the plug. If nothing, your problem is ignition rather than fuel. Good luck. Again, make sure the gas has dried from the plug before you try this, and make sure to hold the plug and wire with something insulated. It will give you a serious shock if you don't!
93 honda del sol will turn over but wont start.
Is it not getting spark or gas? It needs both to run. Both main source. If no spark in any cylinder, then ignition module or crank sensor is likely faulty. If no gas, then fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump or fuel pump relay is bad.
Cant shift in my 88 crx
I would recommend flushing the tranny fluid. you could go with GM synchromesh fluid found at the GM dealer and it will make the shifting buttery smooth. I use this all the time. appx 2 quarts.
1990 honda crx si, 1.6 transmission
No dipstick...you verify by havin car first on level ground then. Then when on stable ground remove the 17mm filler plug on upper passenger side of transmission.if fliud flows out of filler plug than level is fine.if does not flow out whenplug removed.RECOMMEND STRONGLY using a honda brand manual transmission fluid in this transmission..it does wonders for shifting or gearing issues.
I have my trans dropped and everything out ...i
which part wont come off? after you take the 6 or 8 bolts off the flywheel, the pressure plate should come off., then the disc falls on the ground. if you dont know how to get it apart, i hope you have a qualified person to help you assemble this. the disc has to be perfectly lined up and the pressure plate bolts torqued to spec. if its not right, you will be doing it again.
How do i change a clutch in a 1990 honda civic crx
There's no trick to it, this is not in perfect order but it will help... You have to jump in, don't be afraid. Everything is just nuts and bolts. Drain the gear oil out of the trans, disconnect everything in the way, remove starter, all trans bolts, remove outer tie-rod bolt and pop the joint, remove lower control arm bolt on each side and pop the joint, (DON'T HAMMER THE THREADS ON THE BALL JOINTS, SMACK THE THICK METAL ON THE SIDES OF THE KNUCKLE / SPINDLE UNDER THE RUBBER BALL JOINT SEAL AND THE JOINT WILL POP OUT) push suspension up and pop out the axles. Remove motor mounts that connect to your trans. Pull the trans out or pry it carefully, MAKE SURE EVERY BOLT IS OUT. You'll also need to prop the engine up with a jack and something soft like wood or layers of cardboard. The trans will slide out but it's a few inches then it will want to drop so have something under it like a skateboard or a creeper with layers of cardboard to protect both. Don't let it slam down and hit the spline coming out of the engine. Your new clutch kit will have instructions and an alignment tool in the package to complete the clutch install. Then slap it back together. Could take 5 hours your first time, about 2.5 next time.

1990 honda crx si transmission trouble
this is not the problem of fluid, this is a major problem of transmission. The transmission must be detached from the engine, which you cant do by yourself. the transmission can be repaired but i dont know mechanics in your do it. otherwise you have to replace the transmission.
I have a 1990 crx
1990?? yes it has a distributor but it also has a sensor i think in the back end of the engine which picks up off the flywheel ,their is a groove with knotches in the back of the flywheel which can be seen if the starter motor is removed ,well on the opposite side of the starter motor in the engine block /bellhousing is the sensor ,but this depends on the type of engine installed because in europe the model varients can and often are different .these instructions are if you have the same engine that was used in the rover ,their is also another type of engine used which was only honda but then was also used and iam not sure if the pick up sensor is in the same place, yes i have worked on them all but i cant remember everything i have worked on or the repairs i have done ,old timers iam afraid .quick test is too pull the middle lead out of the dist cap and see if you have a spark ?? if no spark then its either a pick up sensor or the electronic module which could be either in the distributor ,on the side of the distributor or under the coil ot incorporated into the coil body ,if you have a spark then its a fuel problem
