If the injectors are weak it will do this. If there is not enough fuel delivery from the fuel injectors the car will do what is called a lean pop. kind of like a back-fire in the intake.

How to replace heater core

If it is necessary to remove the heater assembly, the cooling system must be drained before removing the heater core.
When a heater core leaks, a new heater core is installed or the old one repaired.
Heater Housing
  • The heater housing is usually under the dash and must be removed to gain access to the heater core.
  • Procedures for replacing the heater core vary with the year, make, and model of car. It threfore necessary to consult the manufacturer's repair manuals for the proper procedure for replacement.
f74-01.gif The heater housing is disassembled to get to the heater core. Heater Core
  • Remove the access panels(s) or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain acess to the heater core.
  • Remove the heater coolant hoses.
  • Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped).
  • Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps.
  • Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of the heater core when removing.
  • To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps.
When the heater core leaks and must be repaired or replaced, it is a very difficult and time-consuming job primarily because of the core's location deep within the firewall of the car. For this reason always leak test a replacement heater core before installation.

No cover on the flywheel? is this normal?

If the view you see from under the car is bigger than the size of a silver dollar, then you might need a new cover because the old one fell off.
If your having trouble finding one you can cut one out od sheet aluminum.
Use a piece of cardboard as a template then place it on the sheet aluminum so you can get a good fit.
Add the holes and bolt it up.
If I was any help give me a vote.
Thanks,Gary

The car starts and drives but as soon as u apply

Two possible solutions; 1) make sure the car has the appropriate oil levels. If the levels are too low, the car will cut off. 2) It may need a tune up.

Do you have a check engine light on? If so go to an autozone and ask them to pull the codes for you, they do it for free. Post the code here and I can give you more information. Without the code if I had to say one thing to check it would be the MAF sensor.

Hi brett here ive just bought a 96 2l turbo

Is changing the waste gate all you did? Did you change anything in the air intake system? You must be very careful altering the boost pressure on turbo cars. You can cause the engine to detonate and blow a piston. I'm not sure what the rcommended boost pressure for your model is, but it is usually between 1.5 and 2.5 bar.
