My subaru will not start.

Did you check the wiring going to the starter,Have a friend turn the key to start and see if you are getting poer to solenoid at that time,If not start working backwards to the starter relay, and finally to the ignition switch. You can check the codes by using a jumper wire under the hood on the passenger inner fender area there is a empty female connector,You should buy one of the Haynes books at Autozone for your car,It would help you alot. The last 10 to 15 pages are wiring diagrams,of lights, charging, starting.

There is a switch in your shifter that keeps you from starting the car except in neutral or park. It is called the neutral safety switch and yours is going bad. Try shifting into neutral and starting in that position. This will slowly get worse.

How many qts or ltr's of coolant does it hold?

look we never look up the capacity because it varies with how much you drain out, here is what u do, fill the radiator as full as u can, also fill the recovery/surge tank to the top, run the engine until it gets hot, don't let it overheat, turn it off and let the system cool down and then top off the radiator and recovery tank, u are done!

1995 legacy 250t wagon - overheating

Two possiblities; a blown head gasket, or a freeze plug leaking. If possible take it to a trusted shop and have the pressure checked on the radiator, they can tell you if your radiator is stopped up, or the freeze plug is leaking, and if it's blowing back in the radiator when you remove the cap then it's a blown head gasket.

Usually the main reason for a Subaru to over heat is a blown head gasket. If it is pushing fluid out through the overflow bottle. I would suspect a blown head gasket.

Water pump and beyond

well at 86,000 miles ive never replaced a tensioner or idler pully on a subaru maybe at 120,000 or more, it is more time to replace the crank seal and the cam seals and then the price of the pullys is about that 450.00 but dont think pullys were needed at this time, the timing belt is a no brainer got to replace, you dont know if coolant got to belt it could weaken. but the waterpump ,belt and seals and t-stant is all that should of been done, well now your good with pullys for100,000miles. good luck.
