You have rightly mentioned the fuel filter.. it can be case of fuel starvation due to rust or dirt in the filter.. The fuel pump may be failing as well since it restarts after cooling down...
good luck
How to replace fuel filter
On some older cars the fuel filter is located near the carburator, but newer models are located on the driver's side frame rail underneath the car! I think yours is about directly under the driver's door on the engine side of the frame rail! You will need a special tool to remove the hoses, and if it is fuel injected, you will need to relieve the fuel pressure before you remove them. On the fuel line on top of the engine you will see a small cap that looks like the valve stem on a tire. you can relieve it there. the tool you need to remove the fuel lines from the filter are inexpensive at auto parts stores, or Harbor Freight! They usually come in a pack of 4 tools! Find the right one that fits around the fuel line but just inside the open end of the fitting. Push it in as far as you can, and push back on the fuel line. you have to release the spring fitting inside, from the lip on the filter, and the fuel line will come off fairly easy. Then remove the filter from the clip holding it to the frame rail, and replace it with the new one! Be sure the arrow is pointing in the right direction. Then place the fuel lines on the filter and push till they clip on ( sometimes you have to wiggle them a little to get them to go on all the way)! Then start the car and check for leaks.
O2 sensor
The O2 sensor is usually screwed into the exhaust manifold on a 1 sensor system. It has to be close to the engine so it will light off and give a reading soon after startup. One sensor systems usually have a one wire type sensor, the wire is a special high temperature jacketed type.
Tire pressure
every different vehicle and different tire has a (correct) tire pressure for that particular application.check your drivers door sticker or plate for tire size and pressure and then check your actual tires sidewall for the tires specified pressure. the vehicle sticker (Usually) takes presidence.
