1996 Lexus LS 400 - Page 6 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I want to replace my 1992 ls 400 tranny is it good or bad
You can lower your post-install failure rate if you always check to make sure there is no debris or obstructions in the trans cooler before sending the vehicle down the road. Always remove the pan and check for debris/burnt oil, on any used unit. Makes no sense to install one with symptoms of failure already there.
TIMING PROBLEM
I dont think that u have a timing probing but just to be sure I would recheck the timing, (remove timing belt cover, set crank to zero and make sure both cams line up with the marks on the engine) if thats all good the u have a prob with that particular cylinder. first thing I would do is swap the coil pack from cyl 3 with another cylinder (like cyl 1) then start the car if the misfire code goes from P0303 (Cyl 3) to P0301 (Cyl 1) then u know u have a bad coil pack. try that and let me know what happens
Buying a 1996 lexus ls 400...
Make a standard check of the car before you buy it.(running components and vital parts)
The LS400 is one great car as long as it was taken care of mechanically, you won't have any problems at all
The glass of our sunroof broke. How do we replace
Hi there;
Hey broken glass in the sunroof is not as big of a deal as you might think. The glass is available from Lexus & concidering where it is coming from it isn't that expensive. When you get the new piece of glass you'll see how it is bolted on. You simply rmove the trim around the glass mount with a flat pry bar & undo the mounting bolts, noting the alignment shims befor you remove the old glass mounts & be sure to put them back in where they come from. Take you time & pay close attention to those things & you will be able to change it with out an issue!
P.S.; you may also be able to find the glass from a local auto wreckers for a fraction of the dealer price.
Good Luck Hope this helps.

I have a 1996 L400.
Hi there;
The ECT PWR switch. ECT stands for Electronicaly controled transmission. This switch controls the shift pattern of the transmission. In the PWR possition it will delay the shifts somewhat to give your car more power.
You would use this if you are in a possition where you need to accerate quickly from a light or to pass someone & need more power.
I hope this helps
