If just the inner part is broken, remove both ends of cable, pull out broken parts. Buy a universal repair kit at parts store and follow instructions that come with.

it could be a defective sensor. possibly an open or the gear on that drives the sensor is not turning.

1.8 L honda 34mm keann carbs.Altitude adjusting via all vacuum lines 1984 to 87dx models they just get old and they have plastic floats 1 carb.1 float set they are a discontinued oem part they will fill up with gas and sink causing them to flood.Find some old stock float sets and carb.kit should fix right up.Maybe some one out there makes custom carb floats out of brass???That is what they need!!!!

remove head. (coolant drained 2nd) and battery neg lug ,1st. then un bolt head. (see things connected to it, yes they need offing) the full 58 steps are in the FSM. or at alldata.com. read the manual or join Alldata or google for 1hr. 3 choices, and works on all cars.

check all fuse's and plugs check ignition modual and crank sensor check coil pack

Sounds like the key switch is worn out. You should have power to the coil with the key switch in the on and start positions.

if you have changed the distributor cap,rotor button,spark plug wires and plugs and you still dont have fire then its most likely your distributor.first check the fuses or relays if you have replaced those items.

Not a single person answered your question, they all told you an answer that didn't relate to your question. Anyways the relays for your fuel pump are under your dash behind the fuse box.

If the car is fuel injected, The pump is in the gas tank, End is a real pain in the but to replace,

you might have to retared the timing by repositoning your distributor cap

I use to own an 88 prelude,2.0 engine also,had quite a few problems with it,how many miles does the engine have?hopefully u have had the timing belt replaced at about 60,000 miles I pd.someone to do that,bought the part,etc.,they hadnt done the job,and mine broke,it has an interferance engine,and basically had to have the whole head rebuilt,was never the same,but also how long do u warm it up for?only needs about 5-10min.to do that.,do u know how high the idle is set for?should be about 1-2 r.p.m.'s,on the tachometer,and should be just a little above the cold reading on the engine temp.gauge.sorry for all these ?., also when u let it sit and warm up too long,it can heat up the engine,and it may be trying to cool down,before wanting to start again.do the cooling fans automatically come on? are u saying it won't even turn over,or act like its going to and just doesnt turn over to a full start?it may be the ignition switch?if there is a ck.eng.lite on,u can hook up a tester to the computer's connection,and it will tell u what the code is ,then look up the code in the auto manual,to find the reason and the explanation for the code,and the hopeful solution to it.i know thats alot of info.to think about.maybe it helped ?

1986 --old vehicle and as such i think your only problem is the vacumn pipe from the inlet manifold to the gearbox ,this pipe is perished or broke and as such without this vacumn feed you gearbox will not change up as it should ,on the gearbox end is a valve that this pipe connect too and this could have the diaphragm gone but check the pipe first as this is the most likely cause of your problem

I had the same problem with my dx1.8 1987 which this the same in the controller box hanging on firewall right side car number one vacuum pod pin plunger switch will stop working you will not get any ignition until vacuum actuates the switch.Replaced with a omeron pin plunger switch and she will fire right up.You might want to ck. the thermo sencer to back of engine block this might be a problem to

If the starter has never been replaced, it is probable seized onto the transmission. Try spraying penetrating fluid, or WD40 on the area its seized on, and use a prybar to remove the starter.

Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
Disconnect the wire(s) and/or harness connector from the rear of the alternator.
Remove the alternator-to-bracket bolts, the belt and alternator assembly from the engine.
