clean the carb jets,they are blocked

Turns out that itwas 2 bad plugs. Quite alot of oil on both. Checked compression and was in range for 216000 mi. Changed out plugs and it seems to be back were it was. Running ok but now am assuming that the valve seals must be going in the 2 cyl. Not smoking so also assume that the rings are ok. Steve C

check motor and trans mounts.

Check the flexible pipe wich extends from the exhaust manifold to the bottom of the air cleaner inlet. if it is missing or not properly mounted you will have that exact concern. If it is there and looks functionable have the carburetor rebuilt by a professional. The primary fuel circuits are clogging/varnishing up and the passage becomes smaller not allowing fuel to flow properly. The engine can handle the lack of fuel better when warm. At the time of rebuilding they must check for cracked vucuum lines and check the linkage for the choke and fast idle cam. This will ensure proper fuel delivery and cold engine enrichment as needed. Hi Jason , no vin told no engine told of vast world wide. no country told. PCV goes to top of valve cover on most engines to suck the fumes off of there and burn them. a SMOG device. our USA 96 has a rubber grommet there and a PCV stuffed in there. tell what engine is there. and country if smart. it loves to clog and make engine leak oil and engine burns oil; replace it is best every 50k miles, it is only a check valve.inside, simple as can be but clogs. In the USA all cars here changed radially for 1996 year manufactured after july1, 1995 for 96 marketed year. OBD2 day we call that, even engine options before NOW GONE.

I assume when bleeding clutch lines you are able to get fluid to flow through, so there must be something wrong with the pedal assembly, i'd check there and work way forward

Have you had the new key electronically coded to the car? Replacement keys need to be programmed to the car so the vehicles immobiliser recognises it. If it isn't programmed the vehicle electronics will just assume it's an attempt to steal the vehicle and it simply won't start!
