Flashing check engine light

Any time your check engine light is flashing this indicates an engine misfire that has the potential to damage your catalytic conveter. A diagnostic trouble code has been stored in the vehicles onboard computer that will confirm the engine misfire. Continued driving may ruin your very expensive catalytic converter located in your front exhaust pipe.
Good luck, I hope this answers your question.

I got a 99 Subaru Legacy 2.2L Sedan. Recently hit

I think you need to check your fuel pressure. If it's not between 41 & 45psi, you need to replace the fuel regulator. OBD doesn't always give the exact response to enable acurate diagnosis. Try this anyway, get back if still a problem.

Have a 1999 subaru outback legacy it warms up for

This vehicle is known for faulty headgasket (bad design).

If it is blown, coolant will seep into the cylinders and be burned off with the gas. You could also have a cracked head - in essence creating the same problem.
Check the compression of each cylinder to see.

Also a good indicator is oil in the overflow reservoir - and smoking tailpipe on startup (white smoke) - also increased temp as you have indicated - as the exhaust is leaking back into the coolant as well.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

What could make my gas mileage decrease rapidly?

I would check your tire pressure first. Believe it or not, low tire pressure will KILL your gas mileage.

I a 99 subaru forester that will not egage into drive too

hey, it sounds like the oil level in the gearbox, it not only lubricates but it also fills servos that change the gears and if there is low oil it will take longer to gain pressure.

Where do is the tranny fluid filler on my '99

yes you do but if you only removed filter and fluid in the pan it should only be around 5 quarts. also make sure you use the right dipstick located on right side of the engine because there is one on the left side for the transfer case which takes gear lube. might want to purchase a transmission funnel makes it easier.

Cam seal leak

Replacing the cam seal is really more time consuming than difficult. The EJ-25 motor requires the removal of front covers, timing belt, and the timing gear for the cam that needs replaced. The seal can be replaced without removing the valve cover or cam. The installation is very important on setting the cam timing. Good luck and have a great day.

I have new headgaskets and thermastat no heat in

If everything was done just right the problem might be air trapped i the system. Add the coolant slowly while running and feel the heater hoses. Sometimes just mild pressure on the heater hoses will push out the remaining air. Don't forget to open radiator bleed screw on passenger side. Makes it much easier. Good luck and have a great day.

RE: 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback W/ 2.5L. Where do I

what you asking is a quick fix for a head gasket issue. It will only be temporary and will leak again in time most likely when your far from home. Adding anything could cause more harm than good. It will clog your heater core and it will restrict the coolant passages. I highly recommend you do not do a cheap fix on this car. Do it right.

Do i need to do an alignement after installing a

You may have to, but not typically. As long as your headlights are installed properly, and your lights are even, it is not needed. To check alignment, park the car 10 ft. in front of a wall of a building or garage and check the alignment. You will know right away if they are out of alignment.
