How do you change oil filter

The oil filter is a can shaped object that is screwed into the side of the engine. You need an oil filter removal tool that wraps a strap around the oil filter so you can unscrew the oil filter in an anti-clockwise direction. When the oil filter is loosened you will get some oil spillage. When you replace the oil filter, apply a little fresh oil on the rubber o-ring seal before you screw the oil filter back onto the engine. Do not over tighten the oil filter as you can damage the o-ring seal and cause the oil to leak out of the engine when the engine is running. After installing the new oil filter I suggest you start the engine and let it run until the engine warms up, then check the oil filter to see if there is any oil leaks from the oil filter (between the engine and the oil filter). If it leaks and you have not tighened the oil filter enough then screw the filter a little tighter/

Subaru legacy b4 fuel gauge read empty when

You have a fuel level sending unit that is not working properly. It is located inside the fuel tank. Also, when you ask for help with your vehicle it would be very helpful if you could mention WHICH "Legacy" we are talking about. It seems that Subaru got "stuck" on the Legacy name - there are actally 9 choices for "Legacy" just for your model year. (see list below) There are also 2 different engines available for that year a 2.2L and a 2.5L.1999 Subaru Legacy10_10_2011_12_33_07_pm.jpg

Can you please tell me where the front oxygen

The front sensor is mounted in the exhaust pipe just past the point where the pipe bolts to the exhaust manifold. You can search Google images for a picture of it. Hope this helps! Dano

Speedo works intermitently 99

I had to replace my vehicle speed sensor in my 98 Legacy GT. you can unscrew it from the transmission and hook it up to a drill to spin it and it will show the RPM's on the speedo, but it could be the sensor or the speedo head. The sensors are around $120, and having a speedo repaired can be a few hundred at the max. It's most likely the vehicle speed sensor only because that is usually the problem nine times out of ten. I hope this info helps.

ABS light comes on... but

Most likely a wheel speed sensor, hopefully... The only thing that will change when the ABS light is on is that the ABS will not function as long as the indicator is on. I hope this info helps.

When the airbag system is in functioning condition, the airbag warning light will remain on for about 7 seconds and go out when the ignition switch is set to ON .

If there is any malfunction, the airbag warning light will either stay on or off continuously. In such cases, perform on-board diagnostic in accordance with the specified procedure to determine trouble codes.

  1. Turn ignition switch ON (with engine OFF ).

  1. Connect DIAG. terminal to No.2 terminal of diagnosis connector located inside lower cover.
  2. Check in accordance with the trouble code indicated by the AIRBAG warning light, and record the trouble codes.
  3. Turn the ignition switch "OFF " and remove the DIAG. terminal from No.2 terminal of diagnosis connector.

HOW TO READ TROUBLE CODES
The ABS lamp flashes a code corresponding to the faulty parts.

The long segment (1.2 secs on) indicates a "ten", and the short segment (0.3 secs on) indicates a "one".

NOTE: This is the only information provided by the manufacturer for clearing diagnostic trouble codes.

CLEAR MEMORY
After eliminating problem as per trouble code, clear memory as follows:

Make sure ignition switch is ON (and engine off). Connect one DIAG. terminal (1) on diagnosis connector (2) terminal No.1.

where warning light is flashing, connect the other DIAG. terminal (3) on terminal No. 2 for at least three seconds . After memory is cleared, normal warning light flashing rate resumes. (Warning light flashes every 0.6 seconds (ON-OFF operation.) Memory cannot be cleared if any problem exists.

After clear memory and then DIAG. terminals (1) and (3), extract from diagnosis connector (2)

1999 subaru legacy. right front turn light

I believe you are correct. Whenever lights start doing goofy things like that it is almost ALWAYS a ground problem. I can help you. I can tell you EXACTLY where your turn signal and headlamps are grounded. However, There is one small problem. Subaru got STUCK on the "Legacy" nameplate. There are ten different Legacy models listed for the 1999 model year. If you can tell me which Legacy model you own, I can look up the wiring diagrams for your vehicle and provide the information you need. The choices are as follows:
Legacy Brighton Wagon AWD
Legacy GT LTD Sedan AWD
Legacy GT Sedan AWD
Legacy GT Wagon AWD
Legacy L Sedan AWD
Legacy L Wagon AWD
Legacy Outback AWD
Legacy Outback Limited AWD
Legacy Sport Utility AWD
Legacy Sport Utility LTD AWD

Just post a "comment" to let me know which one it is and I will post the information back to you.
