Srs light on in 1996 Honda odyssey. I have read
If you don't fix the underlying problem, the SRS light will just come back on right away. There is no way to bypass this. Fix it or live with the light. Erasing the code and not fixing won't help at all

Oil leak in 96 odyssey
Do you see a huge oil puddle under the car after it sits overnight (it would be huge!)? If no then the engine is burning the oil, you don't see smoke because the catalytic converter burns it up.

Brake lights stay on
Your brake light switch has most likely failed. On newer cars when the brake light switch fails the lights will remain on, This is opposed to them remaining off all of the time and someone having non-functional brake lights. The switch will be located on the assembly that attaches or is near the brake pedal under the dash. The pedal should have a plate or something similar that will make contact with the switch when it is depressed, and lose contact when it is not, or vice-versa. I would start there and if it continues after replacing the switch troubleshoot further. In the meantime maybe disconnect one of your battery terminals so your battery doesn't go dead if the van is sitting overnight or for more than a few hours. The size of the nut on the terminal should be a metric 10. Hope this helps

Throttle Body Problem
Check to see if there is a vacuum leak. Make sure the mounting bolts and nuts at the throttle body and intake manifold are tight. Did you replace the PCV valve?

Codes p0501 p0700 p1753 p1758p0706
vss dead (veh, speed sensor)A/T 700 codes are transmission errors. so is p17xxx706 is trans mission range switch open circuited (bad switch or wires)the scan codes never tell you what part is bad or what to replace.it tells you ONLY what tests fail. called Monitors.a Service tech, does this magic,. with tools and meters and gauges and special tests.you can look up codes here.
http://engine-codes.com/you can go to alldata.com (or get a real honda fsm book)in the book it covers each code and now to test it and find the truth. for example they will show you how to find P0501.by looking at the VSS signal if good, the wires are bad.if the signal is bad, the sender is bad. using a scope or meter.good luck to you.
