1991 Honda Accord - Page 4 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

This is a trans issue, and OBD scanners won't read these. Jump the 2 pin OBD connector and count the light flashes to get the code #. Then go online to find a list of codes for your Honda.

check your distributor and ignition coil.

check shift solenoid.

I would start off by turning the engine manually by hand (in the natural direction) until the #1 cylinder is up. Then I would verify all my spark plug wires on the rotor and verify that the number 1 position on the rotor goes to the number 1 cylinder while the cylinder is up and looking for that spark. Then verify your firing order in the manual because the 2nd position the rotor goes to is that firing order and it's not going to be cylinder number 2. I had that problem once myself so recheck the order of rotation.

if you feel savvy enough, check to see if it produces spark and also check if the fuel pump is working. If no spark usually a problem in the distributor. if no fuel coming out of the fuel line, maybe bad fuel pump. need to check if pump is not working.

Are trying to replace the caliper? OR WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO?

Go to some remote car starter sites for ignition wiring.

The transmission computer has most likely failed

Could be crank sensor !!!

You can take belt off ,i dont know size bolt could be 24mm.if run foward ,it break it selff.then, you need pulley rem,oval.

You can not. It's a sealed unit. Replace the solenoid and be absolutely sure to TOTALLY flush out the old transmission fluid and change the transmission oil filter. Failure of this item is common on vehicles where the fluid changes have been neglected.

I don't list a crank sensor for a 1991 - probably because it has a distributor. Do you have spark to the plugs ? If not, you'll need a repair book to diagnose the ignition wiring.

Unplug the positive cable for about a half an hour

it is a harmonic balancer or harmonic dampner. The purpose of the rubber insert is to allow the pulley section to act as a counter weight to the power impulses of the crankshaft and so eliminate vibrations in the engine. If the rubber is coming out there are 2 things taht will happen 1 the pulley will slip and items like the alternator will not charge properly and 2 and this is the most likely to happen the pulley section will part ways with the crank section and damage the radiator and other parts of the engine before it hits the ground and damages items nearby.
