When locking car should lights flash
Hello, this is quite normal for lights to flash, Imagine being at a Cinema or Concert and half a dozen vehicles same model/colour parked in the area you thopught you left yours? Hitting the fob helps find your own vehicle, also lets you know that the vehicle is either Locked or unlocked.
Hope this FixYa's problem.

Rear brakepads
assume you know that rear caliper pistons have to be wind back ? so if pistons are still proud and unable to fit new pads? disconnect the h/brake links from both calipers and ensure they are not siezed ? try wd40 to manually free em ? so they move to fully off position ? then push back pistons fit new pads then pump brakes to auto adjust ? then you will have to adjust the h/brake cable/s with h/brake off to enable to reconnect to each caliper hope this is of help to you best wishes from uk

no way to soft release. your cd player is probably shot, that's why it wont' release the cd. you have to manualy force it to release the cd by either just pulling the cd out with some type pliers or taking the entire thing apart. eihter way it's a gonner. get a new one.

P reg 96 volvo v 40 fan switch location
it could be a fan switch relay also. or a bad connection. or any type of thing. it's best to let the volvo dealer take care of the issues. volvo's are tricky to work on and they are best equipped with highly skilled and trained volvo technicians that would know more about volvo's than any other shop around.

real major problems, take the car to the nearest dealer and leave it there. tell them everything the car is doing and when it does it as much as you can. you have some real issues that probably only a volvo dealer will know about. you can also ask them about any recalls that have been made on your car and hope this is one of them....then it's free to repair.

Unknown button
The rear window wiper could be any number of things, from a blown fuse to broken wires to a failed wiper motor. As for the "W" button, it's for Winter driving mode. It'll start the car off the line in 2nd gear to minimize torque to the road and thus control wheelspin, and it alters the shifting parameters of the car so that it remains as stable as possible in slippery conditions.

Alternator
Odds are the alternator must always be removed to change a timing belt. The alternator is either up top or hidden own under the bottom. Either way if you think about it man it has to be pretty easy to find it has the belt connected to it.
