Car not running right
I had the same problem when my head gasket went last July 4th. You may have to adjust the idle under the hood. I also had a jumped timing belt, but that's probably irrelevant. And like Chuck said, I recommend buying a manual, it has everything you need to know about your car. Hope this helps!

Fuel filter bad, won't start?
Hi Zac first thing i would check is fuel pressure. remove fuel hose to fuel rail hold hose into container get some one to crank motor only for a few seconds and turn ignition off..if no fuel ! suspect; fuel pump . also listen for fuel pump to hum when turning ignition on it should make some noise! hope this gives you something to check. as a mechanic i have come across this as a problem before.

My 1995 940 Volvo just lost power while driving and stopped. After trying to restart the car it seemed like it just wasn't getting gas.
I had the same problem and fixed it with only one nut to remove and one easy plug in part the Crankshaft Position Sensor is located between the firewall and the engine on the bell housing which connects the engine to the driveshaft Right on the top shine a light down in there and remove the nut to the left of the sensor sticking up and unplug it check the wires to see if they are rotted mine were all rotted and touching eachother went and bought the part at autozone for $55 plugged it in and it now works perfectly! hope this helps

Hello I bought a 940 Volvo yesterday in not the
Lots of questions, maybe I can answer one or two. The hose is for air, if I remember correctly. Mine got disconnected (actually people kept leaving it disconnected whenever they changed my oil), and then the last time, they broke the end of it, so it doesn't really fit on anymore. Its not so important, so don't be too worried about it, but you should keep it connected while driving. The best solution I have seen is by peeling up the wrinkled area and just gluing it down straight with a strong fast bonding adhesive.Burns in the backseat, what do you expect to do with it? Its probably not worth fixing, or it will require some new upholstery. I have no idea about that Simoniz stuff.

I have a 1995 volvo 940 with a vaccum leaqk
Welcome to the club :). This is a common issue. A lot of people thought it was just the pressure valve under the hood, but they have had limited success. If I figure it out, I'll let you know, and if you do, be sure to let me know. Thanks.

I need to know how
You don't need to drop the fuel tank in a 1995 940. There is an access panel in the trunk. Under the trunk liner there is a panel to the left of the backseat access. Unscrew the 4 screws there and you should see a screw-top cover. Remove it and you will have access to the fuel pump and floater.

1995 volvo 940 not starting
Sounds like a fuel pump issue. Any more details? Does it turn over? If you elevate the back, does it start sometimes? It might be the fuel pump. When was the last time you had it replaced? They last between 70-120k miles (my experience), so depending on the last time it was replaced, it might be time for a new one. They are relatively cheap ($100-$130) if you do it yourself, but it may cost you anywhere from $300-$1000 to have it done. There is an access panel under the trunk liner that gives you access to the pump and floater, so if anyone tries to tell you that you need to replace the whole tank for $1200 (this actually happened to me once), just say "Thanks" and go somewhere else. Check for other options on the pump itself, when I asked Pep Boys, they gave me a $300 one, and I said I'd get back to them. Later I found that this Bosch that was only $130 fit was exactly what I needed.

Service light comes on in 1995 940 sedan
Service light comes on whenever the computer senses some problem with the engine, it can be a small problem with one of the sensors but it might also mean serious trouble. get the car diagnosed.
