Replace the sensor.

No I don't think so.

the ECU is located behind the right kick panel. the Electronic Igition control unit is located under the hood on the right front corner of the engine compartment.

left drivers kickpanel,just below dash.There s/b a lever pull it down till hood pops!

The fuel pump relay is a good bet. Many old Volvo owners carry a spare fuel pump relay in the glove box because it is not uncommon for them to fail.
I and another guy disagreed the other day on the easiest way to access the relay. He says it is easier to remove the glove box. I thought it was easier to drop the felt liner below the dash and lay on my back on the floor and reach up. Either way works.
