2004 Mercury Mountaineer Questions & Answers
On my 2004 mercury mountaineer if anyone knows what size socket fits the rear axle nut let me know I have been told a 36 mm but it seems like it's a little too big for the nut
36mm is the consensus of opinion, but in reality, it is the socket that 'FITS'! Most socket sets come in metric and imperial, you use that one that is the best fit.

Hi,
the 'charging system' includes the Alternator. A bad one can cause your issues. I'd have it tested (most auto parts stores will do this for free) to verify its condition.
Cheers,

My buttons for my ac and auto are not working or lighting up.. i have the up down buttons for higher and lower flow and i have to push them really hard. is there a way to reset this system to get it
Your request shows 2 days old. It would probably help to show which model car you have and if the upgrade climate control or the base system is on your car for other Experts to comment.
The stiffness of the buttons is not adjustable. Some of the controls are vacuum powered and have mechanical parts which are suppose to move to route the vacuum to a proper place.
The fancier Climate Control units have self-diagnosis which some knowledgeable Technician can test to ask the car what is wrong.
The only thing you can try is to disconnect the negative battery terminal for at least 10 minutes and then reconnect and see if the A/C rebooted. This though will erase stored info for the Technician mentioned earlier.
The light issue will not cause the controls to push hard. But the fancier Climate control uses lighted displays to show trouble codes. If the screen remains black usually the control panel needs replacement.
There is nothing wrong with using a used part. Especially if the windows are still intact on the salvage car. You might want to educate yourself by finding Youtube videos for this repair.
