How to fix my car with no compression

This is a problem which at its cheapest will require a new timing chain. This would be the solution if you remove a valve cover, have someone turn the starter and observe if the valves and camshaft is moving. If the valve train and camshaft does not move, when the crankshaft is turning, then the crankshaft and camshaft are not linked. The timing chain is that link. The single cam engines are easier to repair. Once you determine that a timing chain is needed some alignment of the timing marks are needed. On some styles of motors, the front of the motor can be removed without even removing a valve cover. However, if the valves are turning when the engine is cranked, the engine could have jumped time, leaving the camshaft and crankshaft connected.Next, fuel flooding. Sometimes the fuel injectors leak and wash away the oil coating on the compression rings on the pistons. This will pretty much zero the compression on the cylinders. Check your oil, drain the oil pan, see if there is a gain in the number of quarts of oil that comes out. Any gain would be straight gasoline.Remove the sparkplugs, see if engine has compression. Throw a couple of quarts of oil in crankcase and squirt oil into cylinders through sparkplug holes. If compression builds, rings had problems, if compression does not build valves are problem. You can talk about the repair, replacing a timing chain, and get the best price.

The obd II code is po 430. what does that have to

PO430--Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)

On your vehicle ,that would be a bad exhaust converter
on the drivers side

Bank 1 would be where the #1 cylinder is
Bank 2 the opposite on a V6 or V8

Your converter is about 12 or 13 years old
They should last about 12 to 15 in my opinion

I would replace both converters and both O2
Sensors--if they have 100,000 miles on them

The Catalyst is the material inside that converts
the exhaust gases to Water Vapor, H2O, and reduces
HC,CO,and NOX

Is there a drain plug for the tranmission

no there is not; the transmission pan has to come off. That\'s actually a good thing, because there is a filter inside which should be at least inspected. some shops have a vacuum system which they use to suck out the fluid through the fill tube but that\'s not recommended for the reason already mentioned. the pan needs to be cleaned also as there are always muddy deposits in it. it doesn\'t take more than an hour if you\'re careful.

Air conditoner works when connected to battery grand marqui 1997

If you are jumping the A/C clutch with a separate power supply there are 2 cut off switches in the system. They are used to protect the system and work with either high or low pressure. You need to pressure test the system, idle engine speed, and bypass the low pressure cutoff to see what the readings are.Sometimes the low pressure switch will get weak and work too early. It can be changed without losing much Freon. Put a wire loop in the harness connector after removing the harness from the switch and bypass it with the engine running. Do not let the wire loop operate withut the engine running. There are a variety of Freon mix products to chose from. Something with a sealer and conditioner would probably be good.As for the pressure, moderation is best. You want the compressor to run the longest for the best cooling. So a charge maintaining a pressure midway between the 2 pressure switches will work best.If you have applied 12 volts to the system some other way, I can not imagine what was done.

WHY WONT MY INTERIOR LIGHTS

Hi, There are several causes I would look for.
Each door has a door button that indicates if the door is closed, or turns on the interior light if it is open.
Do the following.

1 Check to make sure all of the doors are closing properly. You may have one that looks like it is, but is not.

2 Close all doors
3 Open the driver's side door.
4 find the button (or buttons) and push on them in and out to see if the interior light goes off. You may have to hold the button in because of the delayed shut off. It may be a good idea to wear a glove as the switches are often made of metal. If the light does go out than see if the switch can be adjusted. outward. Often they can be.
If The driver's side door doesn't solve it, try the passenger side.
Repeat the sequence for the rear doors as well.

(Note: the inoperative switch may have a broken off tip, so it may be necessary to replace it. )

In my experience it inevitably is the button.
Hope this helps,

Hope this helps,
Happy New Year,
Mark
