1997 Mercury Mountaineer - Page 6 Questions & Answers
I need to replace the horn fuse in my 1997 mercury
In your owners manual go to the index and look for fuses then go to that page. Look for the horn fuse which should be in the fuse box under your hood around your engine, in your owners manual is should tell you where it's located. Find the fuse for it by looking at the diagram on your owners manual and then pull that fuse out. You should have replacement fuses in the fuse box that's in your car, you have to open the car door to get to it. If you don't have that fuse just take it up to auto zone and tell them you need a replacement for that fuse.
I have a 1998 mercury mountaineer and the fuel
Injectors don't allow fuel to flow to themselves . The fuel pressure regulator is what regulates fuel to the injectors, among other things. The relays for the fuel pump should be under the hood normally on the drivers side up near the firewall. Check your vacuumed lines going to the fuel pressure regulator. If a relay is bad it won't allow any fuel at all to flow. A relay is mearly a switch . If a relay to anything is bad then that component just plain won't work . I don't suspect you have a relay problem since your having a fuel amount problem versus a total loss of fuel all together. If you have access to one get a fuel pressure gauge and connect it to the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. ( it looks like the air stem on a tire ) . Fuel injection pressure at idle should be between 30 and 45 lbs. if she you accelerate the engine the fuel pressure drops instead of rising then I'd start looking at your fuel pump . Change the fuel filter first before anything. A slightly clogged fuel filter makes a major difference in performance. Plus it's cheap and by design they don't take much to clog and when they do you will know. Hope that helps
