code po420 refers to cat converter system bank1 - efficiency below threshold===causes -- cat converter---wiring---HO2S 2

Valve settings
- Pull the hand brake and put transmission in neutral.
- Remove spark plug cords.
- Remove the spark plugs.
- Remove the Tappet cover
- Lift up the left front wheel.
Cylinder number 1 is toward the pulleys and belts side.
- Rotate the crankshaft anticlockwise with socket and extension rod and bring the valve tappets (intake and exhaust) No. 4 cylinder on dancing position.
NOTE: THERE ARE OTHER WAYS ALSO TO ADJUST THE FOUR VALVES AT A TIME. BUT AS DIY FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING METHOD TO AVOID ANY CONFUSION.
- Adjust the valve clearance of number 1 cylinder.
Valve clearance:
Intake 0.18 - 0.22 (cold) Exhaust 0.25 - 0.28 (cold)
- Rotate the crankshaft anticlockwise to bring the valves of cylinder 2 on dancing position and adjust the valves of No. 3 cylinder.
- Similarly rotate the crankshaft to bring the valves of No. 1 cylinder on dancing position and adjust the valves of No. 4.
- Rotate the crankshaft anticlockwise to bring the valves of cylinder No. 3 on dancing position and adjust the valve clearance of No. 2 cylinder.
Honda civic crank position sensor
The first time the check engine light came on I was at approx 85K miles. Bought it to the dealership for diagnostic and they told me it was the catalytic converter. Can you send me information on how to replace it?
Install block heater
factory or aftermarket.?
after market? I guess.
1: go to all makers of heaters, read the pages, decide which technology best suits your needs,
2: then read their manual.
here , technologies.
1: magnetic mounted heater.
2: freeze plug (casting plug) mounted.
3: loop heater.
i like #3, its easy and very effective.
but latitude is not stated so....
case in point Alaska. ( can do endless ideas there)
I did a valve adjustment and now it wont start
You adjusted the valves too tight. Back off of the adjustment before you break parts. You Have to set the rocker arm clearance when the engine is cold. (Not warm, not hot)
Use a feeler gauge.
The clearance for the Intake valves is .007 to .009. (7 to 9 thousandths)
The clearance for the Exhaust valves is .009 to .011 (9 to 11 thousandths)
You want a slight drag when you pull the feeler gauge through. This technique takes a certain amount of 'Feel'.

I believe you are getting these codes as the crank sensor has failed, high value in other sensors. I have found it can just be the plug connecter try giving it a clean....
Troubleshooting
Honda has a problem with this transmission. 99-02. the clutching bands hold the power untell it warms up. The next problem that you'll run into is were it was built uU.S or Japan if you're looking into getting it fixed or replaced.
Sometimes when driving it seems like the emergency
if the ebrake, was on the brake lamp glows in the dash, did it?you never said what TRANSMission, A/T or M/Tif the trans slips RPM rises high (tachmeter) and you dot go fasterif the tranny dont slip, then the motor lack power.well , chock the wheels, on front, jack the rear up (both)and put tranny in neutral. (and spin the 2 wheels by hand)engine for sure not running.if they spin easy , the Ebrake is OFF.so that means the real reason is LOW engine poor)and engine or EFI problem.that be a hold 10 page chapter, so do you want at wild useless guess. or want the FSM to find this.ever tune up the engine, ??? do the 60k to100k mile service points.if not ,why not.>??
Run out of fuel and now cranks but doesnt start
Hi:
I am assuming that your 1999 Civic still has spark, so one thing worth checking is your fuel filter. Often when you run out of fuel, dirt and water is drawn up to the fuel filter. If you haven't changed your fuel filter for awhile, this is a good idea anyway. It is mounted to the firewall, back behind the engine on the passenger side. Hopefully a new filter will get you up and running, and if not, you can check your fuel pressure next and go from there?
