My 1998 Honda Accord 4Dr LX has lost power.

I'd check the fuel filter. ($8- 20) it's easier to remove with a toggle joint socket adapter. It's part of regular maintenance, so if it doesn't fix your issue, it's not a waste of money.

Hello, got a car question for you fine people. My

50K miles IS premature for a chain to break. They're pretty tough. Are you sure it's a chain? If it is a BELT, it could be old and broke due to age. They are a synthetic rubber and eventually they deteriorate over time.

You don't specifically state what kind of car your friend has, so I am presuming a 1998 Accord. That car should have a belt.

Either a belt or a chain can fail prematurely if the tensioning system fails. This will allow excessive slack in the chain or belt which will cause damage to the affected drive components. The tensioning systems can fail due to one or more of the following:

Lack of oil pressure, failed tensioning springs, failed pulley bearings, over-revving the engine for ridiculous periods of time, and failed plastic guide components.

Belts can also fail due to chemical contamination (oil or antifreeze leaking on the belt).

Finally - the water pump can fail which will derail the belt as the belt drives the water pump on many Honda 4 cylinder engines.

98 HONDA ACCORD, FILTER, CRANK POSITION SENSOR P0335, P0730 INCORRECT GEAR RATIO,

All these problems require and expert to repair, the transmission has failed is the biggest issue and will most likely need to be replaced or rebuilt.. The fuel tank issue will not stop the car from driving, deal with that later, it could be just a defective gas cap..

Car speed slows down and speeds up runs a little rough when speeding back up it does a jerk.

Dear Debbie, Fuel filter costs about $ 20 plus installation, catalytic converter about $100 up to $ 600 plus installation.. Go for the fuel filter first. If it is not that, do a diagnostic check before you do the catalytic converter. The "cat" seldom is the problem. God bless your efforts.
