ok take a deep breath. 2005 CADDY 4.6l first off I bet the alternator is dead. and with that all batteries go dead. too. (as they must) driving with the CHARGE lamp glowing does that. the scan tool fails because of 4 reasons,

1. blow fuses, to the scanner port pin 16
2. or fuse to PCM blown or BCM or other computers no board.
3. the scan too is too old. 2008 and newer tools do CAN-BUS or fails communications lack those pins working. DLC.
4. the battery is dead, or below 10vdc. all brains in the car GO OFFLINE< (for the lack of proper voltage power)

THIS CADDY USE GMLAN , That is Can_bus (plus) so use a thing called a battery charger, no shop can fix cars lacking that.? keep the battery charged, then scan every service manual on earth 1996 to now USA states that. battery charged, fuses all good . try to crank it in PARK and Neutral. both.<<< starter dead do that. P0340 ???? there lots of other CMP codes errors. DTCs P0010, P0011, P0013, P0014, P0020, P0021, P0023, P0024, P0341, P0342, P0343, P0346, P0347, P0348, P0366, P0367, P0368, P0391, P0392, P0393, P2088, P2089, P2090, P2091, P2092, P2093, P2094, and P2095 CMP errors , P03xx codes, why not tell all codes and for sure this. do not use 1996 scan tools they are no good, now. lots of codes now for sure massive OEM DTC codes. when the battery dies all learned cam sensors fail until RE-LEARNED the DTC table is full of NOT learned errors. and is not related to dead starter motor ever. the starter works like this on this car told below. STARTER path (electical) I have the real schematic here. battery charges cable lugs all tight and clean, 300amp ready to flow. starter fuse 30amp FL6 not blown out. there are 2 starter relays here. Run crank relay not bad or its. FU27 fuse not blown 10amps FU27 sends 12v to relay named coil starter 2nd RELAY The ECM send ground other coil side (P/N) and 2nd RelaY ENERGIZES. AND SENDS 1VDC TO STARTER SOLENIOD AND SHE CRANKS. The only thing is the tranny park neutral switch must work in P or N selected or ECU will block the starter relay 2 dead. yes DTC can set like this (starter) Trouble Code: P0615 (4.6L V8 VIN A Auto) Starter Relay Control Circuit 616 617 never fail to try cranking in Neutral too, foot on brake. not just PARK

what engine is here, what year car,? it needs service, that is for sure. too high cold engine, too high hot engine, means normal hot. too high both. if always too high, IAC bad. or vacuum leaks to the engines Intake manifold and more , lots of tests, using tools and meters. even bad thermostat. running way too cold all the time.

read the service manual, there is no bypass. or google for hacks endless the parts bad must be replaced. and doing so with battery unpluged for 1 hours. to make them safe and not broken neck/ here it is, pay like me. all great shops have access to here. beg,barrow,rent,.buy a scan too and scan SRS for errors the errors tell you what is bad. It's not a fuse problem, you have electrical gremlins and need an automotive electrician to sort it out. So do yourself a favor and take it to a qualified repair shop.

doing all that lacking the service manual the manual has the correct schematics and meter finds this easy, is battery weak, 12.6vdc rested, 10v is dead wrong. 1992 when did it run right, last week last year, or? which engine 3.0Liter? is this a USA car? the engine stuck on like that is caused by PCM relay bad. it is stuck on. or IGN switch bad, or its IGN pin wires shorted to hot all the time feeds. some way, like ALARM hacks do (add on struff) the cause is ECM (ECU) is not going off line, due the power not going dead, key off. 3 causes. bad power on relay bad ignition switch bad wiring on IGN1 pin of IGNition switch.

All modern cars, especially high-end, electronically computerized makes like Cadillac need a minimum voltage to run correctly. IIRC it is around 11 volts. You need our electronics Expert Jeff Armer on this one. Ideally you need an auto-electrician rather than a garage workshop. Their $5,000 bi-directional scan tool computer can diagnose the ECM, BCM all the modules and sensors, plus all the computer network connections between them. If still overheats we use IR gun tool and run the beam ever every inch of RAD TUBES. and must show 50f degree variance or more per tube end to end if not that TUBE is clogged up, RAD BAD./ that is all for now I can do more. if need be.. on simple cause is not checking RAD water level dead cold engine and making sure that side spill tanks has good tubes inside and work (as engine cools it sucks back coolant.) if tubes bad fix them or check coolant like 1929 days,RAD cap off. look cold. Sounds like you are trying to fry your Escalade. There is an anti-theft system that requires the key be present in the ignition. If the key isnt it may be bent or altered somehow so it doesnt turn. Check to see of the steering wheel can move at all in either direction. There may be tension on the ignition that prevents the key from turning.

I'm assuming yours has an automatic transmission. Do you have any warning lights on the dashboard? Is it doing, (or not doing), anything else? Do you get this high revving at idle once the engine has warmed up to working temperature? This issue could be either an fuel supply issue, an engine electronics issue or even a transmission issue. Have you had it plugged into a diagnostic system or an obd2 scanner to check for trouble codes? These will give clues to where the issues might be. If you have to pay for this service get quotes at 4 or 5 places as prices can be VERY different. If you get the codes comment below with them and i'll try to help you more.

that is called r Transmission FLARE or False neutrals. the pump is weak !(or leaks caused) ATF levels correct at the dip stick. yes, try a full transmission flush and fill ATF and the correct kind. maybe some other jokers used engine oil or diesel or other junk there. (as in junk SNAKE OIL lucas CRAPPPPPPPPPPP the same pump fills the TC so , learn that. if you read the service manual it tells the techs to check main tranny pump pressure test PORT for first. if ATF flush fails. all transmission shops know that and do that if you ask. low line pressure has many causes and is super common. 1: bad AFT or pan filter in packed up with crapppppp 2: a bad pump 3: bad pump regulator (pressure) 4: output major oil gallery leaks end to end due to bad seals or cracked slave diaphragms.(actuators to bands or clutch packs) and more, see that nice 3d drawing of the AT and all those ways to fail> (lost pressure) the ATF gets thinner hit and leaks more. overfilling the tranny is so common due to ignorance, or thinking is done like the engine and so bad and act maker remove the dipstick ending in warranty blow up trans endlessly by daft custmers. the steps are, this.

1. hot engine fully hot, 180f+ coolant
2. and my car calls for 80f ATF coolant that or bit higher.
3. then running engine
4. in park only.
5. dipstick checked, on my 2010 jeep I have to buy the dipstick from jeep and put it , as non sold have it. see what I mean?

never overfill it, or it will foam up and foam is mostly bubbles and bearings starve NOW and goes train wrecked damage, even seized. never use ADDITIVES here only use Caddy spec'd ATF , check carefully do not ASSUME. some super nasty additives (snake oil)_ even melts seals. a huge travesty that, (new trans cost) some additives even wreck the ATF chemistry there, OMG BAD.
