How to fix P0335 and P0727 error codes for Cadillac Catera 2000?
P0335 is a code for a faulty crank angle sensor. When this sensor starts going bad, usually the car will not start till it cools down, may cause rough running or no start at all. P0727 is a communication error between the engine control module and the transmission control module. Check for any bad connections between both modules.

I have a 2000 cadillac catera my radio, maplight,
Did you recently have a loss of power to the car? change the battery? if so, you need to reset your system. My husband and I just figured this out this weekend. His sunroof hasn't worked in two years and it turns out you have to reset all the power options in the car. Google 2000 cadillac catera %calibrate ETC% loss of power, you'll find the step by step instructions for recalibrating the car's computer and resetting the power options

Why don't the back up and brake lights work?
Hi, it may be that the light on tail may be bad, but usually is the break sensor that goes mounted on the break pedal, it cost about 25 US in Autozone, its important to replace it , since this may affect the information that is being sent to computer about the car speed and how to make the shift (transmission) .. By replacing this you may see that the break lights will work again. Its something that may take about 20 min to a mechanic.
It started dying only sometimes, if you let it set 5 min or so it will start again. Drive it all day runs great then pull into parking lot or stop sign and it dies. Turns over fine but does not fire.
The Catera has a history of stalling/cutoff issues. Many are solved with the replacement of the crankshaft position sensor. It does give the symptoms you describe. I would try that first as it is fairly cheap and easy to replace. If the problem persists after that, you've at least removed one potential possibility.
This is the description of the crank sensor from AUTOZONE (cost $44.99 USD)
- The crankshaft position sensor identifies position of the crankshaft to the ignition control module (ICM), engine control module (ECM) or powertrain control module (PCM)
- When not replaced, vehicle may experience no start, hard start, intermittent engine shut down, misfire, engine cut out, excessive fuel consumption, CEL illumination and/or failed emission test
- Proper alignment, positioning and spacing for faster, easier installation
- Designed to meet or exceed OE specifications in form, fit and function
How to test coil pack
I know with ignition coils you remove one at a time while engine on and hear for difference
What causes backfires in 2000 catera
timing issue. a car backfires when fuel is not burnt in the combustion chamber, and end up in the exhaust system. your car could very well just need a tune up.
