Locating the heat actuator for my 1999 Cadillac catera blows only cold air on drivers side
For each side of the vehicle, there is an air mixing valve buried inside the dash and controlled by an electric actuator. This can be a very complicated problem because the HVAC control system in this car is complicated. First step would be to use a code scanner to see if any error codes (DTC's) are set and proceed from there. If codes are set, you can try disconnecting the negative lead on the battery and then reconnecting it a few minutes later. If that doesn't work, determining the problem and fixing it is a job for a dealership.
3.0l engine. Where is thermostat located?
Info taken from other sites on the net:
The intake plenum and intake manifold must both be removed to access the thermostat housing. At the end of the upper radiator hose not on the radiator side.
It looks like once u take those manifolds off it'll be easier to follow the hose where it attaches to the housing that bolts into the engine block.

When I apply the brake the car pull to the right side ,when I depres the brake the car pull to the left side how I fix this problem..
sounds like possible broken caliper, xheck by jacking up the front of the car just high enough to get the two front wheels about an inch off the ground. Jack stands should be used for safety, remove the wheels, one at a time or both. Now you can see the disks and pads, visually instect both, the disks should be smooth, any groves worn into the disks indicates the pads are or had been worn or broken. Its even possible that a foreign object like gravel has ludged between the disk and pads, the brake pad on most newer vehicle are very easy to replace and you should be able to find a few videos on youtube to help you out. Places like Midas do brakes for very reasonable price, you may want to consider that option especially if the vehicle has drum rear breaks, If you are gonna get the fonts done might as well do the rear.
How do I fix cod po301
Hello Carlos,
It is a
common problem with '99 Cady (
Random Misfire Detected)
- Start the car and carefully pull the plugs boot out one by one, and put it right back (a few seconds is enough).
- Take Notice of of which one is affecting the RPM of the engine ( slowing down and and shaking erratically).
- With the engine Off.
- Use the appropriate socket and again one by one take out the spark plugs and check them for oil and heavy residue build up.
- If there is Oil in anyone of plugs, take the car to mechanic and let him or her do an evaluation or diagnostic.
- You probably need new coil packs and spark plugs.
- Change the oil and the air filter too, if they are dirty.
- Check also the fuel filter.
- If the code does not go away by itself, have it reset by a mechanic.
Best of Luck,
JP
