If it is a Northstar engine, there are 2 crank sensors located on the left side of the motor/front of vehicle. you have to get them from underneath. one screw for each and they slide out of motor.
What you have is an electric motor that can run in forward and reverse.In the UP position the motor gets power on one side and ground on the other, DOWN is the opposite.While it is possible the motor is defective, chances are you have a problem with one of the switches. Power and ground go thru the driver master switch as well as the left rear door switch, so you would need to check for power and ground at the motor for each direction.
Simple thing is that the brake sensor is not reading that you have you foot on the brake pedal. Not sure where it is on your Caddy, however. Check to see if your brake lights come on, on some cars I believe the two were connected.
I suspect parasitic draw. All vehicles draw some power from the batteries when the car is shut off. Certain accessories such as clocks, radios remote door openers and alarms always need power. The normal power used is called parasitic draw. It is always a very low draw so it doesn't run the battery down. If you install accessories like shortwave radios or plug things like inverters and portable refrigerators into the accessory socket and operate them too long without the engine running you can drain your batteries to the point where the engine won't start. If there is an electrical short in the vehicle or a malfunctioning accessory it could be drawing much more than its normal load causing a drain on the batteries. If you leave your door open and the inside lights stay on all night you could drain the battery down till the car won't start.Here's also a good resource for your car specifically on narrowing down the cause of the drain.
could be a couple of things1 you have a leak 2 the radiator is blocked run some radiator flush for about 1/2 hr drain then refill with water 3. is the fan working 4 you could have blown the head gasket open the radiator cap see if the water bubbles out 5 the thermastat could be shot.

unfortunatley the sending unit is in the fuel tank where if faulty it would have to be replaced you can check it by dropping the tank at the two smaller wires test the resistance in them with no fuel in the tank the resistance should only read around +- 5 also there is a plug just in front of the tank where the pump assembly plugs into you can check resistance there instead of dropping tank

Hey Jeff,you did check fuse in fuse box on driver side,if good and secure,then it may be your blower motor resister,it's located by blower motor,controls the blower motor,if bad it won't run or just on some speeds,if part doesn't fix,Autozone will refund.You can't tell by looking at resister to see if bad.Here's a link to the blower motor resistor,
Simple test should show broken mounts. Place the tranny in drive and with the brakes full on rev the engine and watch for excessive engine movement sideways. Check rear engine mount (rear axle drive) try to lift the rear of the tranny and see the movement in the rear engine mount. For side mounted engines the mount bolts should be in the center of the rubbers . If they are to the bottom of the rubbers , the mounts need replacing.
My Jeep did the same thing, i had to first buy a little can of dye at AZ and run it through the system where you fill the freon. It will show you with the help of a UV light if there are any leaks in the AC pump, it will glow purple if it is leaking. Usually tho you can't just fill the AC w freon all the time, a mechanic will have to purge the AC system. I cannot remember the name of the unit but there is a canister that needs to be purged before just adding freon. It sounds like that is what's going on since the pump is engaging.
