Code 42 for cadillac cimarron83
Code 42 has to do with your Electronic Spark Timing (EST) circuits that connect between the HEI module in the distributor and The Engine Control Module (ECM), as well as the Timing bypass connector. It can be bad wiring or connections, it can be a failed ECM or it can be a failed HEI module. There is a LONG trobleshooting chart that relates to this code but I cannot post it here. (Too big)
My recommendation is to purchase a Chilton or Haynes manual so you can have access to the chart and test the system BEFORE replacing any parts.
What is the firing order
Since there are so many different cars and so many different engines, the manuals for all of them would be very expensive. All you really need to do is call a Cadillac dealer with your make, model, and engine size, and they will most likely tell you for free.If they do not,try a AAA approved auto shop.In my opinion,AAA approved shops are BETTER than dealers because of their wide range of vehicles and the standards which are required to maintain AAA status, not to mention cost much less.If you have any questions or need more help, just comment here and I will get an autolink to your post and reply ASAP.I really encourage responses so I can follow up properly as I know where you stand and asking someone else restarts all the explaining because we cannot see other 'Expert's' responses.Good luck,Greg

How to Replace a Tail light , Brake light or Reverse Light in car?
The procedure is as follows:--
1) Bulb is located must be unscrewed from the outside, and on others the bulb is accessible only from inside the trunk. If there are no screws on the lens, you can assume that the bulb must be replaced from inside.
2)There may be tabs, screws or small knobs that hold this plastic cover in place.
3) Take off the plastic cover from inside the trunk, to reveal the bulb.
4)You'll have to push in and turn.
5) Insert new bulb into the empty socket. Again, you'll have to push in and turn simultaneously.
6) Test the bulb after connecting.
This will help.Thanks.
Changed spark plugs now car
A Cimarron? What year is this car? A good inductive timing light will tell you if you have spark. Then you need the book to check wire location, firing order, timing, etc. New wires is always a good idea, old wires can fail. Wrestling around in there you may have bumped a wire or vacuum line loose.

Ground straps 2000 Cadillac Seville sts
Are you sure the engine is not grounded? Could be the starter relay. To make sure it is not a ground problem use a battery jumper cable and connect the engine to the negative battery post. Also make sure the battery did not lose its charge while working on the belt. Possible key left on.

My 2003 Cadillac CTS key stuck in the ignition and the gearshift is stuck
Is it stuck in the engine "off" position?
1.) Check your car battery. If it's very low or dead, it may be preventing the ignition from unlocking. If it's low or dead, charge it and try again.
2.) If the battery checks out okay, press firmly on the "S" button (sport mode) next to the gear shifter. Surprisingly, that somehow solves the issue sometimes.
3.) If that doesn't work, there may be a problem with the ECM. But try the two steps above first as needed, and if that doesn't work, feel free to post back.
How can I get into my 2002 Cadillac DeVille's glove box. It appears to be locked and I don't have the master key, just the valet key.
If you're having trouble accessing your 2002 Cadillac DeVille's glove box because it seems to be locked and you only have the valet key, here are a few steps you can try:
- Check for a Separate Valet Key Slot:
- Some vehicles have a separate valet key slot inside the glove box. Insert the valet key into this slot, turn it, and see if it unlocks the glove box.
- Inspect for a Release Button:
- Examine the perimeter of the glove box for a hidden release button. Some glove boxes have a button or latch that may not be immediately visible.
- Use the Main Ignition Key:
- Even if you primarily use the valet key, try using the main ignition key to unlock the glove box. Sometimes, the valet key may not have the same features as the main key.
- Check the Owner's Manual:
- Refer to the vehicle's owner's manual for specific instructions on unlocking the glove box. It may provide information on alternate methods or features specific to your Cadillac DeVille.
- Contact the Dealership:
- If none of the above steps work, consider contacting your Cadillac dealership. They may be able to provide guidance on unlocking the glove box or assist with obtaining a replacement key.
- Professional Locksmith:
- If all else fails, you may need to consult a professional locksmith. They have tools and expertise to help unlock car compartments, including glove boxes.
Remember to avoid using excessive force as it may damage the glove box. Additionally, make sure you have proof of ownership and identification when seeking assistance from the dealership or a locksmith. If your vehicle has an electronic locking mechanism, it's essential to rule out any electrical issues or malfunctions as well.
