Fuel pumps can be tested, they either work, or they don't work. They are tested with a fuel pressure gauge to a testing port on the fuel rail in the engine bay. The other thing to test would be the fuel pump relay to make sure it works every time and also have good continuity.
The shop you took it to hasn't touched it yet. It is sat in the shop and they are doing other jobs when they come in that are urgent. It is also 'tire swap over season' if you live somewhere where people have winter tires and summer tires.
This can easily be diagnosed by an auto electrician. His professional grade scan tool computer can diagnose all the electrical systems in about 30 minutes. Good ones cost about $5,000 and are out of reach for normal garages. They will often work in conjunction with other shops, or just take your vehicle back.

Instrument cluster problem maybe . Without testing we'd only be guessing . Have seen this a lot at the dealer . The best thing would be to hook up a factory scan tool an check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes first. The electronic's on these vehicles are complex to say the least . All the warning light's , gauge's etc.... are controlled by a module an data network . GM class 2 serial data buss. Power windows also are controlled by a module . DDM - driver door module.

First check the fuses, one on left side of steering wheel - the other on the left (drivers) side under the hood. Look at the inside of the lids to see what the fuses work on. If fuses are okay, check the ground wires.
I would check the owners manual to see if the light is to remind you of some maintenance normally done at some predetermined mileage or time. if that is a yes I wouldn't be immediately worry and if it is something to do with a need to repair type light you should check to see if the tires are rubbing if not then drive it to a shop
