What kind of fluid is used for brakes on a 2000

The three main types of brake fluid now available are DOT3, DOT4 and DOT5. DOT3 and DOT4 are glycol-based fluids, and DOT5 is silicon-based. The main difference is that DOT3 and DOT4 absorb water, while DOT5 doesn't. It shouldn't matter which one you use, as long as you use the right amount.

How do you check the transmission fluid level?

Welcome to Fixya

This type of model does not have any dipstick to check the fluid level. Checking the transmission fluid requires the use of a special fluid temperature guage which can be ordered from the Honda dealers parts department.

First run the engine at idle speed for at least 3 minutes. Then open the transmission overfill screw with engine running. Place the guage in the over glow until it reached between 90 degrees and 135 degrees F. Then using a syringe or small pump add fluid until it runs out. Replace and Tighten plug to specified torque of 28.

Thank you for using Fixya!

The anti-theft alarm goes off everytime you open

Interesting, seems alarm has been set-off before<now circuit is ON> and not been re-set back to neutral<re-set circuit to OFF> so when doors are closed, alarm memory retains previous set alarm memory <circuit set to ON>. It'ill go off again whenever door being opened, regardless it have been armed or left open as the memory circuit recognise it still as before alarm set-off<circuit is set ON>.

Solution, 1) Read your car owner's manual in the alarm section, read on how to re-set alarm to neutral if it has been set-off while armed [my experience is by turning the ignition key as if you are going to start the car engine but do not start engine then back to off position, do it 3 times as it will beep after 3rd run]. 2) On 4th run, start the engine, lock all doors then unlock it, 3) Turn off engine, get out from car, lock doors and arm alarm. 4) Dis-arm alarm, open doors and see if it still set-off alarm as before.

If all that doesnot work, go to your local dealer as alarm system has a system fault that can't be fixed without proper equipments.

Follow the instruction on how to accept and mark advise as giving you a core solution. Return a thumb up and praise response. Thank you.

Check trans. and cruise engage lites come on when

I have the same problem. Jumped through the "trade out the plugs" hoops the repair shop gave me but didn't fix a thing. I did some research and it looks like it may be a broken wire in the wiring harness. I popped the hood and put zip ties on the wires and it did it much less.
Its starting to come back more now which I assumed it would so I'll probably have to take it in and take a gamble that is it indeed the harness. Hope that helps.

Check engine light. Code: Exhaust gas

Usually this is due to carbon build up. Fuel injector cleaners will not help. It involves removal of the EGR valve and inspection of the valve for carbon and the passages for carbon. You can also test the valve itself prior to removal if it is vaccuum operated. Unplug the vac hose, plug it and then install a piece of vac hose long enough to reach it without bending over the engine. While the engine is idleing apply vaccuum to the hose via a pump or the old fashioned way via sucking on it and note engine idle change. If none either the baffle is bad inside the valve or it is clogged. Hope this helps.
Also, some EGR valves have a vac control solenoid and those go bad too. If the idle does change via the procedure above then suspect the control vac solenoid.
