Check engine light is and my s1 light is on in the drive

If your check engine light is on then it means that there are codes stored in the computer. The easiest way to find out what they are is to go to an Advance Auto Parts Store or Autozone as I know they will read the codes and tell you what they are for free. If you do not have one of those stores around you I would suggest finding any auto parts store that offers a free diagnostic check. Once you know the code then you will be able to fix the problem. I am not sure why the S1 light is coming on but I do know that the first step to fixing your problem will be to get the codes read. otherwise you will just keep guessing. Hope this helps.

I dont know what kind

Do you need a new engine? Or are you talking about a fan motor, or what? If you're referring to the engine, the 91 Prelude had 2 engine choices: the 2.0 liter (1958 cc. known as the B20A5 series, or the 2.1 liter (2056 cc. known as the B21A1 series). Both motos are fuel injected and 4 cylinders. Let me know if this is the information you were looking for. countrycurt0

Auto transmission

I believe this is a warning of a transmission problem (flashing S4 light), and u should have it checked by a good trans. shop or dealer. When The engine light comes on and stays on,(does it only go on when the S4 light flashes?)it is a warning of a problem (fuel injection/emissions system), which u can check by doing the following: There is a Electronic Control Unit (ECU), located under the carpet on the passenger (front) side near where your feet would be. There is an LED display on the ECU, the display is a small circle, I believe located at the top center of the ECU. When u get the ECU exposed(by pulling back the carpet), turn the key on, and observe the LED. If any codes were stored regarding a problem, the LED will flash. Count the flashes, Codes 1 thru 9 are a series of short flashes, two digit codes use a long flash for the 1st digit, and a short flash for the 2nd digit. Codes are separted by a pause between displays. If u have multiple codes , they are transmitted in a alternating pattern. Time and space make it hassle to list all codes ( there are 19 for the 91 Prelude), so if u want to go ahead and check the codes, let me know what they are , and I'll tell u what they mean. Good Luck! countrycurt0

1991 prelude drivetrain problem

Wow, that's weird! If the speedometer is moving, but you aren't, then yes, something in the axle is not connected to the wheel. Were there any weird noises or symptoms before this happened? Either the cv joint is completely shot (u should have heard noise when turning a long time before this) or the spline could be stripped, but that is something I haven't heard of. If the clutch was shot, the engine would rev, but speedo is connected to transmission, so the speedo would not work if the clutch didn't. Let me know if anything was going on before this happened, I have a 91 Prelude (2nd since 1994, love it). countrycurt0

It sounds like it is the headlight motor on that side. You can buy them from a dealer or online. But first you may want to check your relays

I am replacing my axle

With a large screwdriver, CAREFULLY pry the axle out of the differential case about half an inch. This causes an internal snap ring to disengage from it's locking groove, you can then pull the axle out of the case. Countrycurt0

Self reving problem???

This possible solution is also weird. I have a '91 Prelude Si also- GREAT car. Do you have anti-lock brake option? If you do, check the fluid level in the anti-lock reservoir. My Prelude did this revving thing twice, and while checking under the hood to see what the heck was going on, I discovered the brake fluid level was very low. I topped it off, and after giving up trying to figure what was wrong, I restarted the car, and no revving problem. I don't know why this is, but it worked for me twice. Countrycurt0

Transmission not shifting

A very common problem with those engines is the Idle Air Control valve going wacky. I take it your trans. is an automatic. If it is, the trans. filter is inside the case of the trans. You have to take the trans. literally apart to replace it.

I have a honda prelude

Hi So the new fuse blows up straight away? you cant check the wire like you are doing. Check with multi meter for continuity. then you will find the problem. You can put slight bigger fuse and see if that solve the problem.

Using my OBD II on 2000 honda prelude trouble

I would start with whatever is causing the misfire. That seems to be the core of your emissions codes. Putting all codes together it seems to be clogged injectors vacuum leak. Seems to be causing stalling too.

How does one remove broken

if it has air bag in the wheel first you have to isolate the switch from the back of the wheel spokes ( side facing dash) there may be 2 screws set well into the spoke that are undone to get the center of the wheel out first from there on it is the same procedure as removing any steering wheel all is explained in the workshop manual

1994 Honda Prelude si starting problems

Your starter motor is either not getting power or in need of replacement. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with your car. Also check your battery connections for no corrosion there as well as by the starter motor. Low voltage circuits in a car are extremely vulnerable to poor contact issues.

I'm in need of the engine bay wiring diagram for a 1980 Honda Prelude, specifically for the cooling system/thermo-fan.

Try jumping the green cooling fan switch with a wire and see if it turns on while the car is on, if it does then it's probably your module.
