Well, Cadillac is a Chevrolet product, so thats good news, right? Your on the right track, I would start by replacing the vacuum lines, but word of advice, do them one at a time to prevent excess confusion. Belts and hoses are also a good idea, but those are easy enough, right? Depending on the milage, I would also check for stretch of the timing chain. This is easily done by removing the disributor cap. Then turn the engine clockwise by hand about one half turn. Then start turning the engine coubter clockwise while watching the rotor on the distibutor. If there is a delay in movement of the rotor when you start back the other direction, then you'll need to change the timing chain. A new timing chain wil probably give many extra miles, and years of life to the engine. Good luck, it sounds like a very worthwhile venture. It's also nice for an old motor head like myself to see another American icon saved from the wrecking yard. I too am becoming a bit of a antique Ha Ha:)

- Engine coolant into a suitable container to a level below the ECT sensor
- ECT sensor harness connector (A)
- ECT sensor
To Install:
NOTE: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Do not drop damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

Components requiring the use of the thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, or sealants are identified in the service procedure. Some replacement components may come with these coatings already applied. Do not use these coatings on components unless specified. These coatings can affect the final torque which may affect the operation of the component. Use the correct torque specification when installing components to avoid damage.
- Coat the sensor threads with GM P/N 1050805 sealer or equivalent
- Install or connect the following:
- ECT sensor
- Torque to: 15 lb-ft. (20 Nm)

I couldn't find a reference for the 'fan coolant relay switch' although I'm sure there is one on this car.
Would Dura-Seal eliminate the problem of a blown
No it would not. The same as chemi-weld. Good to get you home but full of problems later. To fix a blown head gasket pull the head ,have it machined flat and refit using a genuine gasket. (after market do not have all the holes in the right places )
1997 eldorado still runs hot
Are you sure it's not air locked? Run it with the rad cap off and keep watching the water level. It might go up and down and then finally drop. Maybe even try letting some air out of one of your heater hoses if you can.
2000 MAZDA 626 2.0 MISSING
I'm sorry to be such a smartass, but if the 2000 Mazda 626 2.0 is missing from your 1997 Cadillac ElDorado, you do have problems.
1999Cadillac Eldorado brakes lights not working
replace the brake light switch mounted on the bracket by the brake pedal. You need to adjust it to operate correctly also. The third brake light works off a different circuit when applying brakes
