Driver side under hood

Sounds like the Idle air motor is not working , Possible throttle plates stuck , do you get a check engine light or service engine soon light if so pull the codes and let me know what they are and we can go from their , this will allow us to diagnose the problem better

Could be many problems,dirty fuel filter,dirty MAF sensor,vacuum leak,exhaust leak,oxygen sensors.PVC valve open.Put good fuel cleaner to tank change air filter and fuel,Clean MAF sensor.Replace PVC valve.Any codes?

Fuel trim lean, banks 1 & 2. That's a pretty strong indication that you should check the fuel pump pressure at the fuel rail, and check the fuel flow rate while you're there. There's a good chance that your fuel pump is just about ready to be replaced. If you see good pressure & flow rate, run a couple of jugs (not at the same time) of carburetor & fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank. It's possible that all your injectors have just gotten so dirty that they can't give you a full-rich mixture. You'd best do it fairly soon - the engine is running lean, and it can't tolerate that for any great long time without some damage.

this could be a electronic problem in the coil/s ,distributor module or injectors. Run the fault codes.

what component are you trying to find the ohms SIGNALfor?

Code 36 for most Cadillac models means the egr sensor is not giving the correct signal. The sensor is telling the computer the egr valve is open or closed when it should not be. The valve and the sensor would need to be tested.

If this noise occurs on GM vehicles during the 1-2 shift, it can be an indication that the seals within the valve body are beginning to fail, causing "chatter." Check your fluid level, top off as necessary, and also check the color of the fluid (should be bright read and reasonably translucent). If it is dark blood red or light tan, it may be worth the exercise of changing the fluid and having the pickup screen cleaned to see if that corrects the problem. If not, prepare for a re-seal $$$

I replaced mine about a month ago, yuck plastic....... you can order one at rockauto.com prices range from $79 to $194 myself I got the $112 one with about $10 shipping and fast about 3 business days to install 1. Two motor mounts on top 3 bolts each one 13mm heads take out and and fold bock over 2. There is an electrical gadget on the front brace in the center mounted down with 2 bolts with a 10mm heads remove and lay aside 3. Remove the positive battery cable and lay aside 4. Remove the top radiator hose at the radiator and bend back over the motor. 5. Remove the top transmission fluid line to the radiator 5/8" will do it. 6. Remove the bottom radiator completely and set aside. 7. Remove the bottom tranny fluid line and raise up to prevent spilling out fluid, it will tuck in, up or fluid will run out. 8. Remove the top bolts on fans, 10mm, unplug the connection. The fans are bolted at the top and sets in a rubber slot at the bottom, they will come out by moving them to your left one at a time. 9. 3 bolts holds the top bracket on the radiator 10mm they are under the brace, lean back toward the motor and lift out bracket, the radiator is not ready yet to come out, there is a AC condensing coil bracket on each side in front helt by 2 screws 7mm take these screws out and lean the radiator more towards motor and you will see how these little brackets are helt in place just lift straight up and remove... OK lift the radiator out, watch out for the 2 little rubber saddles that the radiator sets in on bottom 10. remember nothing bolts down at the bottom all on top Good Luck P.S. carb cleaner is a good way to clean the greasy gunk off

Their is a short to ground on that circuit

try locking and unlocking your doors , look at the alarm light see if it is flashing or if it is on with out flashing , if its flashing it means the alarm is off if it is soled it is set , if this doesn't work then disconnect the battery for 1 minutes or more

Refill your ac gas it's available at any auto parts store that if you have already checked all fuses and relays associated with your ac .if your freon level is to low your ac compressor won't engage .

all anwers USA< other cars are DIFFERENT> 96 CAD usa. it auto resets at every keyon. get the FSM and read the ABS chapter. it tells you that and that it needs a special scan tool to find all issues. if frisky pull the battery neg, lug, wait 5min,, or turn on head lights and foot brake if in hurry,, I never am. and put back the neg lug. this will make the ABS start virgin. why not post the symptoms. my light is on, why>/ 1: brakes are bad. do a brake job. 2: scan the ABS see the errors. and the tests. my nice Innova scan tool 3160 does not do 96 1997 -2005, cad see chart, there is NO ONE scan tool for ABS that does all cars. under $10000 . my tool does most OBD2 PCMs. but not ABS or bags for many cars. but does have a nice set of coverage. http://innova.com/Content/Support/Downloads/051812_31X0b%20ABS_Chart_Final.pdf

Make sure gas cap is on tight and the seal on cap isn't bad . Your car is nearly 20 years old so Various vacuum lines are going to go bad and should be replaced there available by the foot at any auto store it's cheap and easy DIY project . If it continues after this then u have something more wrong .

Have it scanned to see if a trouble code comes up. It may be as simple as a loose or defective gas cap. Good luck.

when you say it's not working do you mean the dash goes blank or what stops working need more info
