How to fix the cruise control - won't hold speed!

Could be the problem; however it is more likely to be under the hood where the cruise actuator is located - check the electrical connections on the actuator and the linkage between the actuator and the accelerator lever on the engine. Also, if the cruise control uses a diaphragm to control the accelerator, it may be leaking or the vacuum line to it may have fallen off - check the vacuum at the actuator with the engine running.

How to remove backseat

On most GMs, you remove the rear seat by: 1. Stand in the back floor facing front. 2. Pull up slightly on the bottom edge of the seat until it stops. 3. With your heel, kick the bottom edge of the seat backwards in the center of each side of the drive shaft channel to release the clip. 4. Alternative: if the seat isn't just clipped in, there are two 10 mm. bolts under the bottom seat lip. Once you have the seat bottom out, there will usually be two more 10 mm bolts holdng the seat back in place. After removing the bolts, push straight up on the seat back to disengage the clips.

My 1988Cadillac Brougham is smoking when I driveit's coming from the drivers side near the back tire and also underneath the hood I can drive it but it doesn't have much power when I accelerate

Hi Amy This sounds very much to me like your driver's side rear brake is sticking. This would cause the engine to work much harder than normal. Hope this helps. -Steve

The battery on my car goes dead after 2 week ,I have a new battery and cant find any obvious shorts

You have a parasitic draw. Put a test on a fully charge battery. Then put tester on the battery. Take one fuse at a time out and watch meter. Put it back in each time. You shouldnt have more than .5 draw. Your battery should be around 12.6, So with everything off your battery should be 12.6, if it is less then test each fuse and see whats making the draw. Good luck

Chirping sound on 1988 cadillac brougham as I drive it. Already replaced everything on wheel.

Check the disc brake pad thickness ( both sides of each rotor ) there is a small metal bit that when the pads are unsafe the bit scratches on the rotor to let you know to replace the pads.

I need to know the power source for the driverside

Hello: The power source is a circuit breaker located in the fuse box under the driver side dash. There are 2 circuit breakers (about 1 inch long and 1/4 inch wide. The top one is for the windows, swap the two breakers, If the windows work then you have a bad breaker. If windows don't work the remove the window switch assembly from the door. on the back side of the window switch assembly you will have a heavy pink wire, that is power to the windows. with a test light check to see if you have power. If you don't the it could be a broken wire where the wire comes from the body to the door. If no broken wire then it could be a burnt fusible link that comes off the starter. ALSO BELOW the window circuit breaker is a black connector that supplies power to the windows, the trunk release and the sunroof if equipped. This information straight out of a 1988 CADILLAC service manual. Check that black connector for burnt wires and make sure its plugged in tight. Do any of the windows work from the individual switches in the door.
