2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca - Page 9 Questions & Answers
We were driving on the interstate about 70 mph
I have owned five Subarus and this is a problem I that have never seen before. When your TCS light comes on, it disables cruise control, so that part should not worry you.
Since your TCS and check engine light came on together, I suspect the "problem" was with the transmission. It sounds like a one-time "fluke".
You can go to any good auto parts store and ask to borrow their ECM analyzer.... it is a "box" that wil talk to your Tribeca's computer and let you know exactly what the problem is. You connect it to the jack by the drivers side left knee, then turn the key on (but do not start). Follow the directions on the screen and it will give you a readout of what problems it sees.
Copy down the displayed information in case you need it.... The code number(s) and description(s) can be very helpful.
Follow the on-screen instructions and clear (erase) the problems. Turn off your car, disconnect the box, and after you return it drive home and see if the lights come back. You may have had a "freak" occurance, and that is what I am hoping happened... you hit a pothole or bump just right and the computer lost its mind for just a second....
If it gives you any peace of mind.... the 3.0 H-6 Subaru engine is the absolutely most solid, best performing engine I have ever experienced in a car.. Mine was a 2001 LL Bean Limited and I LOVED IT! My big mistake was giving it to one of my children.... but that story is best left to a blog and not this forum!!!
Good Luck!

My car was recently shipped
the lights are flashing because there is a troble code stored in the onboard computer system, on this modle you can not clear the code by unhooking the battery, the code will have to be cleared with a scanner, if you take the car to auto zone they should be able to clear the code for you. what most likely happend is when the car was being loaded one of the wheels spun free will all the others were still on the ground and this will set a wheel speed sensor code we see it quite often on the subaru's the wheel sensors are very sensitive and set codes very eazely. i dought that there is any thing wrong with the system it all happend when the car was being loaded or unloaded at the dock.....good luck
Power windows stopped working....all other
Hi,
Thank you for contacting fixya.com.
Check whether the electric contacts in the window switch is worn, corroded or dirty. Try pushing the switch with your finger hard and deliberately - if the window starts to work, the switch is the problem and needs to be replaced. Also try accessing the motor then tap on it with an object (like a small wrench or a 3/8" extension) - if it temporarily works, the window motor will need to be replaced. Also check this link for more details if it helps:-

How do I adjust the
I have a similar problem. The adjustment screw adjusts both the high and lof beams. After changing the passenger side low beam, both sides then pointed at the ground. High beams were fine. I adjusted so the low beams are fine but now the high beams point straight up.
In talking with Subaru Service he said there is a "module". He said after changing the bulbs they should point down then auto-adjust back up. That didn't happen. I haven't found anything on such a module. He said it woul be $109 for adjusting the lights OR for the module.
If I find anything more I'll let you know.
My exterior lights wont shut
turn off the "park lights" override switch, which is located on top of the steering column cover (between steering wheel & instrument panel).
Ac is cooling on the
Your problem is most likely a low refrigerant charge. You can go to your local parts store and buy a can of refrigerant (R134a) that has a connector on the can .Connect the can to the low side of the a/c system (There are 2 places to connect to the a/c system this is defined as the one hose that is larger of the 2 as a general rule the smaller side being the high side) start the engine and keep checking the cooling vent on the drivers side and it will slowly get cooler throughout the system."Important" make sure it is cool enough(like the passenger side)you do not want to under charge it after you retain the desired temperature throughout the a/c system stop the engine disconnect charge line and replace cap do not use the whole can unless nessasary or use an additional can as needed if necessary but the thing is to not under or over charge the system.I am confident this will work.
My 2006 Tribeca keeps draining
or any of several reasons:
- You accidentally left the lights on or some other accessory that pulls power from the battery even when the ignition key is off.
- The battery is not being recharged while the vehicle is being driven (you have a charging problem)
- There is a key off parasitic electrical drain on the battery because a relay is sticking, a module is not shutting down, or there is a shorted diode in the alternator.
- Your battery is old and will not hold a charge anymore. The battery needs to be replaced.
I just had an oil
Hi, the Check Engine light and the cruise light blinking tells you the computer found a problem with your vehicle's running condition but if the vehicle is driving OK, a Check Engine light is not a reason to pull over and get the problem fixed soon.
In testing areas, you will fail your emissions test if the Check Engine light is on and fuel economy generally suffers when the Check Engine light is on.
When the Check Engine light is on, one or more "trouble code(s)" are stored in the computer and you can read and erase trouble codes using inexpensive code-reader tools from auto-parts stores; the tools are very easy to use.
The problems identified by the codes are frequently easy to fix (such as a loose gas cap), but some are complex, requiring professional diagnosis.
A trouble code indicates a circuit where the problem was identified, not necessarily the component itself. Diagnosis is often necessary.
Check engine light on, traction
there is a lot of questions here so i will start with the codes P0028 & P0026 both are verable valve timing codes first we should talk about how this system works, the engine is equiped with veriable valve lift units that when oil is pushed into the units they push on the camshaft, basicaly they roll the shafts in there saddles witch changes the lift and duration of the camshaft this is done to maxamise the performance of the engine, basickly alowes the engine to be tuned down at low RPM and load but when there is a demand for power the cames are advanced to give the engine more power. when we see these codes the mose common problem is the engine has not been serviced reguarly and their is gunk built up in the oil passages to the veriable valve units, most of the time changing the oil and adding some addative like marvel mistery oil will fix the problem, if not then you may have to replace the veriable valve lift units.
the skip under load might be the verable valve units advanceing one cam and not the other, this would cause a surge and maybe an engine miss fire, but i would change the spark plugs as will as the oil ( it never hurts to replace the plugs ) but make sure to use what the factory used don't chepen it up spend the few extra dollers to get the right plugs.
the check engine light is the verable valve units.
now the flashing cruse and the TCL these are most likely related, and you should be able to get a code from the BCM that will leed you down the right path, but best guess is a speed sensor is not working, all 4 wheel have to be within 1% of each other or the cruse will not work, and the TC wont work and probly the ABS.
its a lot of info but i hope this helps.
