1999 Subaru Outback wagon (can't find 1999 below - sorry) - the trunk hatch lock won't open. You can hear it "thunk" when using the remote unlock. How can I get access to it?
Usually the problem is that the handle has not returned to the fully down position, probably because it's getting old/rusty.
When this happens on my Outback I just push the handle down until I hear it engage, then pull up and the door opens.
Some people lube the handle regularly. I haven't had to yet.

I am able to get the (plastic) "wood-grain" trim off of the dashboard, except in the lower left corner, where it seems to be ?? screwed in ??
Can anyone help with that?
Is there a complete instruction set anywhere for removal/replacement/installation of a stereo (head unit) into the dash of a 2000 Subaru Outback Wagon?
Any help much appreciated!!!
http://www.butkus.org/subaru/outback_stereo/outback_stereo.htm to get the exact wiring diagram just click the link and follow the instructions with diagrams and replace it easily . please do rate the solution.

My 2000 Subaru Outback low beam headlights are out (yes, both of them). The high beam, fog lights and parking lights all work. I looked at the fuses and none seem to be burned out. Any ideas?
Check the Headlight Switch. If your headlights come on automatically check the headlight sensor and its associated relay.

2000 subaru outback. owners manual does not show fuse for power seat
check first to make sure there is nothing caught in the track or under the seat or there maybe a bad wire on the power motor itself and yes there should be a fuse or relay check under the dash for the box there and the diagram will tell if you if one is there or check the relay box under the hood for the relay for it

2001 Subaru Outback ABS, Brake light and Battery light go on and off spoardically while driving. Noticed the temperature guage got a little hotter too. Does this indicate an alternator failure or a sensore/computer problem? <br> 2000 Subaru Outback, battery dies overnight for no reason. ABS Light comes on with acceleration. Yesterday, the E-Brake and Battery lights were coming on intermittently.
yes it's most likely a alternator problem, usually the internal diode bridge breaks causing all lights you mentioned to come on,if this happens at a idle open the hood and remove green connector on alt.if lights go out you've found the problem

For the past couple of months the ABS light has been coming on seemingly randomly (it behaves like it's caused by a loose wire or possibly a fluid level). Then two days ago the BRAKE light and battery light came on at the same time, but the ABS light did not come on. The battery is brand new (less than two weeks). I took it to a mechanic yesterday, but (after sitting all day) the BRAKE / battery lights did not come on. He went ahead and tested the alternator and checked the belts and those don't seem to be any problem. Then this morning, about 30 minutes into my drive to work, they both came on again. I can't figure out what the problem is...
sounds like a open diode in alternator, when brake and battery lights come disconnect green plug on alternator,if the lights go out you've found the problem, very common problem with subarus

again I have replaced both o2 sencors and the whole cat system and reset the codes and when I run the car to the store the check engine light comes on on the way home.
I'm sorry you spent that money if this was the original code.
The code means one of the O2 sensors has a faulty heater or the power circuit for the heater is bad. The sensor is not heating up as fast as it should. Since you have replaced the sensor you would need to check the power circuit for the heater.
P0037 SUBARU Description
Oxygen Sensors (O2S) or Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) need to reach a
minimum operating temperature of 750 degrees F to produce an accurate
voltage signal. The faster the heated oxygen sensor reaches that
temperature the faster the sensor will start sending an accurate signal
to the Engine Control Module (ECM).
In order to achieve the require temperature, a heater element is included inside the heated oxygen sensor. The ECM controls the heated oxygen sensor heater element based on signals from the engine coolant temperature and engine load. The ECM controls the heater element circuit by allowing current flow to ground.
The ECM
monitors the voltage signal received through the heater element circuit
and determines the state of the circuit by comparing the voltage
detected with the factory specifications.
