No heat or defrost 1992 subaru legacy (air works fine)
Heater core..easy to replace..find the complete tear down and rebuild book for your car at any part store and follow the directions on how to change it.
Radiator... if its the rad then you pretty much are looking at about 800.00 to 1100.00 for this .
If its the radiator... you will notice your car will start to over heat.
It could be even more serious..like the block might be cracked.
If you see like a steam that looks like smoke coming from the tail pipe then its the block.
Again can be fixed for about 12 to 13 hundred bucks.
Hears hoping im wrong on all accounts.
cheers

What oil would i use
cold climate 5W-30W, hot-moderate climate or long commutes at high speeds 10W-30W, these engines are designed for light oils,(very tight clearances) heavy oil's can starve the main and rod bearings of start up lubrication..

Subaru legacy 92 unstable RPM
Have you checked your MAF/MAP sensor, or your fuel pressure or fuel pressure regulator. Are your throwing any codes at all? I would also look at your Cam & Crank sensors. Good Luck!

1992 subaru legacy 2.2 turbo rough idle fixes
Hi doesnt sound like anything major as long as it doesnt smoke bad or knock from the engine, it sounds like a decent service would help, try replacing the air filter, fuel filter, give it a decent oil change ( i use castrol magnetec in my part of the world), give the idle air control valve a good clean with mass airflow cleaner or similar. If thats dirty it may fix your problem when cleaned. The hot idle should be approx 500rpm and cold should be approx 1000rpm hope this helps

Won't start
hi Ben, you haven't given many details. Make sure you have fuel delivery and at the correct pressure. you'll need to have the fuel pressure tested by a worksop as special equipment is needed. At the same time have a scan carried out to find out if there are any fault codes registered. Regards JohnJohn
