if you changed the ignition you have the key and switch programed into the computer because the 5 second run is a security item.

This sounds strongly like a faulty battery or connection. Verify that the connections are tight and clean. No corrosion. If there is any corrosion it can cause exactly this. If everything is clean, have the battery and charging system tested(the alternator, once the engine is runing). Let me know.

99 WJ , FSM covers this. did you scan the PCM first? which one , left or right, why not say that? as its key. both doors have door controller brain. (complex) both run off batter A146 feed. JB. fuse 12 , in PDC. 50 amps.

Could you tell me what selection you have on your 4x4 shifter?

You have 4 high (full time) N 4 Low and nothing else?

Quadra only sends power to the front axle when it is needed, it uses a hydraulic unit that senses slip then send power to the front.

You also need to make sure your getting it in to gear right, for me I found that getting to 4 low can be hard as they tend to bind, move the 4x4 shifter to N take your foot off the brake and pull it into 4 low, do the same getting back out.

I have owned every 4x4 Jeep T case in Grands from 93 to 02 they offer fantastic traction and options and are strong.

Make sure your T case fluid is full, if you have never changed it DO SO, as dirty fluid plays hell on them, if you do have Quadra trac you need to get the correct fluid for the case, go to your Jeep dealer and get it, DONT put trans fluid in as this dose not work right with the system.

If you want "Locked" run the system in 4 low, as heavy off road in 4high with Quadra is not the best for heavy off road, use 4 low to that.

have you tried the obvious of wiggling the steering wheel?

RPM goes to zero is engine stall is it stalling, (car wont move with engine dead ,is 2nd clue)

so is AWD,? command trac or what trac? no working means..... using or 4low,? my wild guess: 1: Quadra-Trac-II NV 247 Gerodisc system 1999+ got that? what you have for real MATTERS? we cant guess. the 247 adds LimSlipDiff option to the system got that too>? symptoms for working are>...... 1: lamp dead. 2: lever stuck 3: tires x4 missing torque to earth? 1999 WJ jeep 4 steering binds up.? say what is there. and say what not working means , exactly and say what tires are touching, (pavement , ICE or dirt) we cant guess, road, either.

Please have somebody check the shaft that goes from the transmission to the center console, it's out of line. This can get worst and maybe, if you don't have it fix, it won't stay in park (P) and your car won't start.

(belt is first first but is obvious , no?) use youtube and see 1000s to it. ever do that? u tube.

Check for melted wires or connector at the blower resistor. It's located near the blower motor which is under the dash above where the passenger's feet go.

have you check for power at the sockets for the brake light. if you have no power and as you say the brake light switch is good then you have a brake in the wire between the two that you will have to find and repair.

First you need to check the transfer case fluid. It may be low or the wrong type. You need to go to the dealership to get the right type. It would be hard to go into more details without more info from you. Does both ranges not work? (4 wheel high and low) Or is it just the 4 wheel high range that doesn't work?

please ask a question, with year, ,99, model Cherokee, engine size, and a symptoms. do not ask for easter egg hunts. (guessing;where) there are 3 kinds used at jeep, electric fans, gee look see em? clutch fans, see clutch in front of water pump and hydraulic fans on the HUGE engines. no engine , no joy, fail.

sure, take off door car access motor,. and remove motor or find a way to move its gear drive to put window up or hot wire motor. (one way goes down, other polarity up) ask for how to hot wire, (do so connector at motor pulled) use a jumper wire with 15amp inline fuse #18 gage wire or larger.

Unfortunately ...No The power windows have a small motor and cables and slides, there are also circuit boards for the switch controls. If you are not mechanically inclined to troubleshoot to find the actual problem you should take it to a shop. Once the switches or electrical are ruled out as the problem, the interior door cover will need to be removed and if you have never done it it is really easy to destroy the clips. The assemblies for the window motors are usually replaced as a whole unit.
