Hi Eric, it sound to me like the modulator in the trans is faulty. This modulator is what controls the shifting in the trans. It details a 30 minmute repair by your transmission specialist. The replacement part should be around a hundred dls, plus the labor. While you are at it, have the filter changed in the trans for carefree shifting.

ok it wont start but cranks ok , right? no A/t car starts, with out first cranking, my 6speed wrangler i can push start it and gravity start it.
M/T rule.

4.0L or 5.2 engine??????

ok, its an old car, and old cars are trouble, especially old cars with
lots of BS on board. and GC is top car with too much bull.
my guess is you have SKIM>?
the IMMO , the immoblizer option,???? generic named.
and you cant get past mr, IMMO????????
on all 1999 and newer the IMMO will cut the ASD , BY DESIGN.
1994 its called VTSS !

the dash has lamp for IMMO, are you ignoring the lamps?
warnings?
why not look there and believe what you see..

so lets work the alarm system.

the ZJ FSM is here, for free.
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service

read the chapters on alarm and IMMO and related?
the chapter is Veh. theft /security systems. read that carefully.

focus on the ASD on all 93 and newer jeeps.
the ASD can drop out for 8 reasons (or less on 94)
this is covered in the FSM but kinda poorly,
they dont focus on no starts well,
and for sure with no DRB scan tool. (it will tell you why!!!)
first off this system is and OPTION, so do you have it, seems yes.
clues, and i qoute
  1. horn honks
  2. exterior lights flash.
  3. engine no run feature. <<<< bingo?

when 3 happens the VTSS sends the no run to the PCM
the PCM then allows the car to run for 3 seconds, then drops
the ASD and stores a DTC in PCM memory , telling you why.
it will store a code for VTSS failure.

see the VTSS pages for troubleshooting
or do the 1994 VTSS defeat trick, your call.
the old cars are easy to defeat, not mine, its impossible.
my car its called SKIM, now.
ask more ,get more.tell more..

Sounds like it is just the temprature sensor going bad to me. They are cheap and easy to change out. I am not exactly sure of its location on your year vehicle. Do a google search for it and you should be set.

I think your fuel pump MAY be failing, Luther. It may also be stopping because it thinks it's pressurized the fuel enough, though. Have someone check the fuel pressure and flow rate at the fuel rail with the appropriate gauge.

If your "Check Engine" light is on, also have someone get the error codes from your Jeep's computer with an first generation OBD scan tool - there may be another issue totally unrelated to the fuel pump.

You do understand that a '94 is really getting pretty old, right? After twenty years, it owes nobody anything. The Jeep's computer may be borderline dying... and you may not be able to get another GOOD computer to replace it. After twenty years, even new-old-stock computers off the shelf are pretty unlikely to work. Your Jeep may have driven its last miles - it's sad, but they DO have a much more finite life than the older (pre-1987) vehicles.

Bad blower motor ? First unplug connector at blower motor , use test light to check for electric power is getting to it, if there's power to it. This will also eliminate your fuse , relay or wiring to blower motor. You could use a jumper wires from your battery to check the blower motor also . You could try this first , if you like. Let us know how it comes out. Have a Blessed Day.. Luther.

Sounds like there's high/ low spots on the rotors , The abs light on could be due to the rotors , or a sensor on the backing plate / rear wheels or your front wheels.

Do you have 12 volts in the battery and is it in good shape? If you don't have power in the battery, your alternator cannot produce power. I suggest you do a hydro test on your battery.

which engine? we can not guess engines.
unless, stated, or show with a photo. (add photo)
open hood see EPA sticker and engine is clearly stated there. USA.

read the FSM
read alldata. com
ZJ
4.0L:?
do tell and we CAN answer.

idler on 4.0, just it, is IT bad, or just a belt swap, do tell.
serpentine belt.
the book says, engine with no power steering (you) do have
spring loaded, idler, but the other engines and with power streering
NOT.
so is this a P/S free car" I must assume so this is the FSM quote for taht
special case: (ive never seen a P./s free GC) but here goes.
If the engine is equipped with an idler pulley, loosen the idler pulley adjusting bolt, insert a prybar between the pulley and the engine (or in the idler pulley adjusting slot), and adjust the tension accordingly. If the engine is not equipped with an idler pulley, the alternator must be moved to accomplish this adjustment, as outlined under Alternator Belt.

why not post a photo of the part that cant be removed.????

but if V8?? (it should not be, as that was introduced in 1994)(
it has a turn bolt CW to release tension, on V8 idler.
my book dont show how to remove said pulley
but I think yours is broken.

When it won't start someone will need to find out if you are dealing with a no-spark or no-fuel problem to proceed.
If the check engine light is on you should get the computer scanned for trouble codes.

It may be that it is not getting a hot enough spark. Check the CCA (cold cranking amps) rating on your battery. If it's 650 or below, that may be your issue, a cold battery has less power. Try upgrading to a battery with more CCA like 750 CCA or above. Or if your vehicle is garage or carport kept, simply buy an extension cord and a heating blanket, really! Just open your hood and drape it over the "cold" engine at night...Worked for me with my old Datsun 280Z.

sounds like some thing is on .check to see if your brake lights are staying on,because of a broken brake light switch. check dome light, check glove box light, parking lights, and try not setting your alarm over night. you have a 12 volt drain some where in the car.
