you may have a bad starter solenoid.using a test light at the starter the light should be lit on the large wire terminal and with someone trying to start the car yhou should have the light on when the key is turned to the start position.it you have a volt meter you should have battery voltage on the large wire and the same on the small wire when the key is in the start position.you can try tapping the starter when someone tries to start the car.if it starts then replace the starter.its the most common problem.

first off what is bucking? you never said, (engine or trans)????
there are may parts on the car, that can buck, shake, or surge.

the jeep keyon off on trick usually is totally useless for this problem. but heck free to try.
the problem here is the ecu forgets some error after keyoff. oops.. you need to scan it using a real scan tool....

if savvy and like danger
try to see if the asd drops, at the buck moment.
there are ways to do that. ask.
(bad dealer, fire him) try an honest , ASE shop and mechanic.
google "ase shops" BINGO !

avoid stealerships and only as a last resort. (a ride to h3ll?)
for that cash could buy a running used one. here.
it's an old jeep, and like all old cars they will be a problem.
all old cars are.
I'd have a scan tool connected, my INNOVA 3140 (does old jeeps)(this tool does old jeep OBD1 scans)

and see what codes are stored, DURING the buck.
that's right driving and scanning, wife drives, you scan... or?
if it's the engine, it will show something,.
ill guess, now,.... (useless)
1: engine bucks, actually its stalls and recovers.
the jeep has a THING, called ASD.
if the ASD drops driving it WILL BUCK, and is clearly not transmission slip, or trans gear shifts caused.
its engine, so focus on the ENGINE and EFI system
if you lose to fuel pump pressure its not a buck its a slow bog.
so its not the pump dropping off line.
its spark dropping. and the ASD does that on purpose.

read this.

what is something

if the ECU loses power, 12vdc main power,
the ECU goes off line and the scan tool shows. (lost comm)
bingo, no?
or if not that the ECU reports ASD related EVENTS (DTC'S)

lets do some...
1: battery reads, 12.6vdc reseted in park,? and 13.3 to 15v running?
yes/no.
2: enigne starts and runs perfect and drives ok?
3: head lights work> right?
check fuses yet.
if above is ok.
then the hood switch is broken, its just a switch telling alarm its closed. ..

rear brake lights.
are the rear brake lights dead, if you look at rear and person 2 steps on brake, key on?
maybe its telling you the truth.

not sure what time date means....

I believe it's one of your relays too. There are a few relays under the glove box. If you can determine which one is clicking you can change it out and possibly solve your problem. Good luck...

Most likely with a vehicle of that age, the float assembly (fuel level sensor) in the gas tank has failed or has become disconnected (possibly lost ground connection). It is also possible that the gauge itself has failed.

It won't crank? Have you tried rapping the starter with a hammer-a light tap- to see if it will work? If that works, the starter is going out and needs replaced. Alternatively, take the starter off and have it tested for free at a parts store.

While you were filling the tank you may have disconnected the pump wires. If you can hear the pump activating when you use the switch then the pump may have gotten clogged , check for sediment in the tank.  For the person with the mustang - if its only coming out of one side then its a nozzle clogged or a pinched hose.

Being a 94, it's probably a speed sensor. Newer ones are in the transfer case.

check brakes or handbrake are not binding. especially if the car has been sitting for a long time with the handbrake on, you release the brake lever but the sytem can still be on, after driving for a while with little braking like on a main road or freeway stop in a safe place and check your wheels with some water to see if there is steam from the brakes this means they have been binding and overheating. for handbrake drum this maybe under the car and not on the wheels. so that has to checked too to see if it hot if so the break is stuck on. i would go to a garage and have this fixed as the break pads may need replacement if they have been overheating, to ensure they work properly once break systems is fixed.

I hope this was useful.
