How do i get access to rear windscreen wiper mechanism
hello, first off,why do you need access to wiper mechanism? wipers not working? checked the fuses?,open the drivers door, and at the end of the dashboard facing the door is an access panel for the fuses, unclip that with a small thin screwdriver, check the fuses, also what is known as -fascia2- there are relay's, usually numbered on top in bold white numers,it should be 377,which is a double relay for both the front and rear wiper mechanism, that may be defective.if all these are good, and working, the wiring that goes through roof scuttle -to the -tailgate,may actually be broken, which is a common fault, you may need to use a (carefully)a Stanley knife to gently cut open the rubber sheathing to get a visible look inside, you may well find the main 'LIVE' supply to the motor,or the thick 'earth' wire broken ,here.if so, use an identical thickness wire,(to add a bit of length to the broken wire,as simply rejoining it may cause the whole wiring harness to bunch up,and cause further problems) simply use a wire stripper to gain enough of the end's to wrap around in a circle a few times, then use a pair of pliers to squeeze tighter, then use a good quality pvc tape, stretch the tape a bit,as that eases the insulating part, rather than merely wrap the tape around as it comes off the roll in a haphazard way.if all this fails,or is not where you are striving for, then removing the rear tailgate panel is quite simple, raise the tailgate and you will notice a recess on the panel, there should be a screw(usually a 20 torq) undo that, also check all around for any other 'screw's that may be on your particular car, unscrew them also, and then using a small to medium screwdriver,or better still a medium pry bar, starting from 1 end at bottom gently prise off the panel, section by section, until you have gone all around the entire section of the panel,as there are clips on the panel that 'snap in to recesses on the tailgate, which hold the panel to the tailgate.replacing the panel is fairly simple, just align the panel with the recesses to the clips as accurately as possible, and slap the panel exactly where each of the clips are aligned with the holes, and they will pop in to place, and go all around the entire perimeter, slapping the panel with the palm of your hand.hope that helps. cheers.
