1991 Lexus LS 400 - Page 6 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

I've seen this before, the problem ended up being the brake light bulb lead contacts touching each other on the dual filament bulbs allowing back feed voltage to travel through the park/dimmer switch circuit causing the lights to activate while pressing the brake pedal. I would pull all the brake light bulbs out and look at the back of each one, if you see nothing unusual, I would still replace them all only because it could be internal to the bulbs as well. Let me know if this fixes your problem.
I hope this info helps!~subyguru~

Does it feel like the car doesn't go any faster when it does that? Or does it speed up? If it feels like your slowing down it could be that the transmission is slipping.

Is the car have its emergency breaks on?

I would try disconnecting the battery for about 15min. and then reconnect to see if normal driving mode returns. Did this problem start after engaging sport mode? if so, you may have a faulty button that needs replacing.

Anti-Deterrent ECU:
This is also possibility especially someone else drive your car. This is very common if you lend your car to someone. The symptom of this condition is "No noise or sound at all" when ignition key is turned. If this is faulty, the symptom will be the complete ignition kill. Therefore, you will not heard and clicking sound or engine turning at all. If this is the problem, you can easily reset the Anti-Deterrent by using your key. Stand out side of the car and close all doors. Insert the key into the driver side door and turn the key to clockwise and counterclockwise for three four cycles. Basically, you are lock, unlock for 4 times and this procedure will reset the anti-deterrent ECU. If this happen to you, its quite scary at first, but the solution is very simple.

It has something to do with the climate control. You have to have a technician repair it. ebay has many of those repair guys for mad cheap. I did my L of of ebay. They have ways of removing dash and climate control off of google. Just engine search it. Look for people that fix Dash and Climate control. If that does not work then it is a LD problem and probably need a new Radio.

If the ignition lock cylinder hasn't broken internally, try this:
grasp the steering wheel. Apply turning pressure (like trying to turn the wheel) while turning the key. Key should turn. If not, your ignition lock cylinder may be defective.

without being there, it could be the alternator gave out. with car off with nothing on. at battery there should be at least 12.6 volts. with car running at battery should be at least 14.2-14.7 if alt. is good. a couple of years ago my car just quit on expressway, and come to find out the positive wire on alt. was loose. if alt. is not charging then you will not have enough of volts to power pcm properly. good-day ! check it out !!

If you are talking about the A/C clutch relay. It is located in the engine compartment in Relay Box #5. Relay box #5 is mounted close to Junction Box #2 on the left (driver's) side of the engine compartment.

I would either go to a shop or buy a Infrared Thermometer and check the temp of the radiator and the upper radiator housing temp, that's a nice car and expensive to repair, but to blow the engine it would be worth nothing

Hello go..... this is a very sophisticated security alarm. That said, make an appointment at an autoelectric repair shop, listed in the yellow pages. These shops have all of the wiring diagrams, knowhow. and diagnostic tools to work on this problem. Joe.
