The relays are always plugged into the fusebox. There are relays for the headlights, fan, fuel pump, AC, flashers, and sometimes others. If they are not labeled, you could remove them one at a time, and see what stopped working. Sometimes you can feel them click when operating, so you can identify the flasher and headlight relay that way. There is always a fusebox in the engine compartment, but sometimes another inside under the dash.
But with AC they put in a climate control computer as well, and that could prevent a good relay from working. A manual over ride switch is always an option.

Hi!!
If the fuel rail is not equipped with a pressure relief valve/service port, disconnect the fuel supply hose from the fuel pressure regulator and connct and adaptor (sold at any AutoParts store) to test pump pressure, if OK, check pressure after pressure regulator to find out if it is working prperly.
IAC (intake Air Control) selenoid is the one that controls the Idle of the engine.
Remove and clean the IAC selenoid located on the intake manifold. Use a clean rag wet with fuel injector cleaner and clean selenoid tip then, wrap rag in a pen or pencil and clean selenoid housing, specially the deep end, where selenoid tip seats. Be careful not to scratch selenoid housing walls and do not spray fuel injector cleaner directly into housing or selenoid body.
Make sure the TPS (Trottle Position Sensor) is not sticking, there are two located on both sides of the Trottle Body.
Good Luck!! Keep me posted!!

Hello,
Thanks for using FixYa.
You've already isolated the problem. It is the crank position sensor. The lousy mechanic didn't even bother soldering the wires. Hopefully the sensor is still okay because its possible that it got damaged to to shorting. Have the wires double checked and if possible, replace the crank position sensor and you should be able to get rid of the problem. I've had the exact same symptoms on an Altezza that I've fixed two months ago.
I hope this helps. Thanks and good day.

The electronic control for the ignition system. The module
receives a signal from a magnetic pickup or Hall effect sensor in the
distributor. The module uses this signal to open and close the ground circuit
to the ignition coil to fire the
spark plugs.
The
ignition module itself may be located inside the distributor (GM and some
imports), on the distributor housing (some Ford applications) or in the engine
compartment. Some modules also control timing advance and ******. If a module
goes bad, it usually goes completely dead. The engine won't run because there's no
trigger voltage to the ignition coil.
To remove the old ignition module you will have to remove the three nuts that are on the bottom of the unit. There is one bolt on the side that is closest to the cab of the car, and two on the side closest to the radiator. Two of the three nuts is easy to get to, but the one on the inside closest to the radiator can be difficult to reach. 3
Next you remove the bolt that is holding the plug in the ignition module. Once you get the bolt lose just tuck it back out of the way. 4 Now that you have the ignition module lose you will need to take the six star head screws out of the ignition coil. 5 Before you remove the old unit make sure that you have the gasket on the new ignition module. The new gasket will come in the box with the new module, and has a sticky side so it can be put in place. 6 Remove the Ignition Module from the bracket and gently pull apart the module and the coil. They are connect by wires on the under side of the coil so do not pull them apart to far. 7 Remove one side of the wires from the coil and replace them with wires from the new module. Once you have all of the wires reattached disconnect the other side and replace them with the new wires. 8 Place the new module on the bracket and put the ignition coil back in place. Replace the six screws that hold the coil, then the three nuts on the under side of the module. Last reconnect the plug and tighten the bolt. 9 Now you stand back and smile because you have just replace your ignition module.

Hello,
Thanks for using FixYa.
Should you find your transmission slipping, don't despair. A transmission that slips doesn't
always mean that your transmission is on its last leg. There are a few things to try before
automatically forking over the money to buy a new transmission. First of all, check your transmission fluid.
The color of clean transmission fluid is red in color. A brownish fluid color indicates that
the transmission fluid has outlived its useful life and needs to be changed promptly. To fully
exchange the fluid in your transmission, you will need to have your transmission fluid flushed.
When you empty the fluid from the transmission pan, you still have fluid in the torque converter
and transmission cooler lines. This fluid can only be removed by a flush. You could technically
keep draining the pan every few weeks and refilling with new transmission fluid, but you will
only be diluting the old fluid out. This is better if you can't afford the cost of a flush all
at once, but is only advisable on transmission pans that have a drain plug built into the pan,
otherwise you will need to replace the transmission pan gasket every time. Regardless, if you change
the fluid you need to also replace the transmission filter. This is a pretty straight forward
process on most vehicles. Just make sure the fluid is warm, but not hot or you may burn
yourself. Usually just changing the transmission fluid alone won't keep your transmission
from slipping anymore. If some of your transmission seals are bad, you'll need to find an additive,
such as Lucas Transmission Fix, to help condition those seals and make them seal fluid once again.
If your vehicle calls for adjusting the bands when servicing the transmission, this may help with
your slipping problem. Make sure that your transmission cooler fins are clear of debris. Keeping
your transmission fluid as cool as possible helps prevent detrimental effects to your transmission.
Transmission fluid that gets too hot will cause the fluid to start to break down. Also make sure
that the fluid level in your transmission is at the correct level. Hopefully, some of these tips
will keep your transmission from slipping for some time.
I hope this helps. Thanks and good day.

Where do I locate the
The ignition module is located where your ignition key sits in.You will need some screwdrivers, pliers(to unplug wires) and few more tools in order to replace it.It is a 1 hour job for someone experience with it and could take you 1/2 a day or even more and it all depends how competent you are. Before disconnecting the module make sure you check all wiring connections...so you know where each goes when you replace.Hope this helps.
92 lexus ls 400. Tail lights will not turn on.
check power to your rear tailight bulbs positive to see if they even get power with the headlight switch on. if your headlights come on then it's probably not a switch issue. Just check and make sure that you have power and ground to your tailights. It sounds most likely like an electrical problem. The best way to find the problem is to get an electrical wiring diagram and go through the system. But definately first check power and ground at the tailight bulbs to start.

Sounds like the wiring to the relay is crossed to allow power to the pump at all times. The relay normally receives a signal from the computer to run the pump and pressure control cycles the pump as needed. I'm surprised that the battery is not being drained (but you may be driving often enough to keep the battery full charged). Someone had to have been poking around the block to make that change. This could be a dangerous situation if you ever had a fire around the engine. Hope the helps!
What's the best place to
Hi Doug,
The 'Best Place' would be the dealership. Best the least expensive place would be a U-Pull-It type wrecking yard.
Not only is the pricing reasonable, you get to do a practice run at taking the dash apart.
It is also an opportunity to get extra bulbs for dash lights, flasher modules, etc. The small inconsequential parts that by themselves don't warrant a special trip, but added together is worth making a list for.
Wrecking and salvage yards are getting computerized too. They can tell you over the phone if the part is in their inventory or one nearby.
Hope this points you in the right direction.
Best regards
Mike
When i pull the fuel
Some cars have a fail safe in case the fuel pump relay fails while driving. As long as there is oil pressure it will continue to run. If you crank the engine long enough with the relay out it may finally start when the oil pressure is readable. Try turning the car off and seeing if it will restart easyily with the relay out
Drove to work, pulled in
Its not that uncommon for batteries to fail within months of purchase. You really need to get this tested before proceeding.
Also if the battery is fine then I would be checking for codes. Maybe you have a security lockout.
This doesnt explain why the locks dont work but a low battery could give you all those complaints.
Also try cleaning the battery terminals and making sure they are tight.
Lights go off and on.
The fuel gauge gets its signal from the sender that is the fuel tank. One would have to get the wiring diagram and test at the feul tank on the connector to see if the sender is ok. If it is ok then most likely the fuel gauge failed
As far as the lights you should have a headlamp relay in the engine compartment. Swap it with one of the others if you have a look alike..
Also if you were to apply power to the correct wire at the relay and still have the problem them you would know the problem could be a bad ground on the body for the headlights or a intermittant short in one of the hot wires going to the headights.
If the problem goes away when you add power at the relay then you would know you have an issue with the headlight switch.

Hi,
Let me Inform you, Ignition Coil and Throttle problems are very Common on this Model. But, it needs to be properly diagnosed. I am sure, you would have an Check Engine Light On?
If yes, take the car to Auto Zone or Dealer and get it Scanned for Codes. That would tell us exactly what might have wrong. It does not make Sense to keep making Intelligent Guess and replacing components which you initially did.
No Offense, Right Procedure is the Best way to Fix these unless you would end up in Debt.
NOTE - IF YOU DO NOT HAVE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR SAFE LIGHT ONE, LET ME KNOW.
Let me know, once you Scan the Car ( If you have Check Engine Light On )
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
Humming noise from tyres
Make sure the tire pressure is proper..
Be sure to rotate them every 6-k miles or so..
If they are not rotated - the tread could get the fish-scale effect..
Run you open hand gently across the tread in the direction of up and down - not side to side..
If you feel the fish-scale effect - it is from not rotating them and that is what is causing the humming noise..
Rotate them asap.. if it has been TOO long - the "humming" might not go away until your next set of tires..
Good luck ;o)
96 lexus ls400. Car idles to high and sounds
The first thing I would do is remove the hose connected to the intake and see if there isa lot of blackish brown buildup on the plate, if there is you need to buy some top engine cleaner and with a tooth brush clean the throttle plate on the back side and also the pipe that it sits in. Over time Gum builds up from back fires that you can't feel and causes the plate to open up and gradually will cause this problem.
Check this first and if you find that it is dirty then let me know and I will tell you how to do a top engine clean to get it running better, I do this in a order that won't cost you as much. If there is build up in the engine it will also cause the engine not to get good fuel mileage. Check this first and let me know so I can help you save money, you can do the top engine clean yourself. As far as sensors go I do the simplest things first before moving on to the sensors.
